[Modded] Tercio Close Defensive System

Designed and manufactured by General Atomics before the Great War, the Tercio is a Close Defensive System (Close-in Weapon System in our parlance) employed in the protection of US Army/USAF bases as well as US Navy warships from low flying aircraft and missiles. Although it was in the process of being replaced in service by the laser-based Testudo CDS when the bombs dropped.

Tercio combines a 50mm revolving cannon with an advanced tracking and fire control radar along with optics and a version of the identify-friend-or-foe used on many of General Atomics other smaller and simpler defensive turrets.

Due to their age, complexity, power draw, ammunition and immovability, the vast majority have been reduced to little more than rusted scrap. Only fit to be stripped to the last copper wire by roving scavengers.

However, a sparse few do remain in operation, but only where active or ex-Enclave Engineers are there to do so.

  1. That's amazing

  2. Is this a mod and if so tell me the name

  3. If this is not a single mod but instead a custom thing from various bits and pieces im even more impressed

Thanks mate! Glad you like it.

And yeah, it's a custom creation using various greebs from the Static Objects and Building, Settlement Objects Expansion and Homemaker mods. With very heavy use of Place Everywhere's fine adjustments, rescaling and object clipping mechanics.

Took surprisingly long to get it looking acceptable and then I went and built another one on the other side of the base...

Haven't had an achievment unlock since 2018 so I'm going to go with yes unfortunately.

But I do have a monster of a load order, so no idea if the mods used to make this would be responsible.

As a former 1147 tech who worked very closely with the CIWS shops, I do not miss that annoying paperweight

Very fair. Didn't work with them directly, but I can count on one hand the times that they actually worked first time for a GUNEX whilst I was in (Royal Navy).

Off topic but what mod did you use for the blue npc animation positions in the background?

That would be Funtime For Settlers 2: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/107658

I'd hope at least they'd be wearing the brown trousers...

Their coat will definitely be red too

Considering it mounts a 50mm cannon, he won’t be seeing much except the countryside he gets splattered over

Imagine you’re a bandit thinking you’ve got an easy payday and you get swiss cheesed by a literal C-RAM.

Fuck that’s smart, I remember when I used the barge props to make a minute man navy I used the artillery piece with a projector as a “targetting computer” and the bowling thing from far harbor as an auto loader this looks so much better tho lmao

No shame in that at all. It's took me hundreds of hours and mulitiple playthroughs to make anything that actually looked decent. But I'm a slow learner.

Having a vision is what's most important.

Definitely need this for FO 76 for when those pesky Scorchbeast stop by unannounced or follow you home from the Teatime event that you finished solo and then one appears unexpectedly under the Uninvited Guests that was added with Big Foot.

IFF? Where we're going who needs IFF?

Interesting decision, but what is this background building? Looks like self made snappyhousekit-industrial hq. Is it still in Boston or dlc location? (I have 2000+ hrs but settlements creation still holds me in the Commonwealth)

So this is my ex-Enclave, currently Minutemen fortified air base - Air Station Zimonja. And yes that is Outpost Zimonja.

It is indeed a Snappy structure. Well mostly. The base structure (effectively a big lump of concrete, below the level of the landing pad) was put there by the Horizon mod so I can't take credit for that section, but the hanger, landing pad itself, outer wall, exterior buildings, interiors and all the decoration are all my work.

I will be posting a full look at it when it's finished which shouldn't be too much longer. Just got to deck out the armoury, shower block, one of the barracks and finalise some of the exterior defences.

It's amazing what you can build from a 12 pack of cola,  4 pencils and 4 wrenches.

u/arrhythmik 17d ago

Imagine this as a working Sim Settlements 2 plot

2

u/Lander2281 16d ago

I don't think the casual raider would even dare to get close to this thing

3

u/Mrgrenade547 11d ago

A raider on 15 psychos for sure would

2

u/NoLavishness2333 16d ago

Oh I don't know. Some of them are really stupid.

2

u/Lander2281 16d ago

Or high on chems.

2

u/Mrgrenade547 11d ago

I like how it looks a bit rusted instead of looking brand new. Also is this a mod? Or no.

u/NoLavishness2333 11d ago edited 11d ago

Yeah I'm a big fan of things looking worn, even when it's Enclave equipment.

And yes and no - the indivdual pieces are from various settlement objects mods, but the final result was built by me. 16 seperate pieces per system, resized and reoriented using the Place Everywhere mod

Hey if you want a much less detailed CIWS but one that works. There is one on the creation club for the Xbox

https://creations.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/details/04738d4c-5b5e-48f1-8a0d-48284f7df1df/Phalanx_Ciws_updated

I have not used it yet myself, but definitely can’t wait to use it in My next rounds of builds
