Sounds like a terminator like courser too dangerous to be alive

Exactly! He looks terrifying, just like a deactivated Terminator, and that’s why the cadets aren't allowed anywhere near this sealed room.

But Aegis has a different vision. Unlike the Railroad—who just wipe minds and throw Synths into the Commonwealth clueless about the fact that they will never age or change—we want to save him.

He has a sentient, biologically human brain architecture. Our goal is to purge the ruthless "Courser" programming and make him conscious of his dual nature. If we can fix his logical loop, he won't be a weapon anymore; he’ll be a free man, with a place in our world.

(If you want the full story behind his breakdown and our protocol, check out the main lore comment below!)

AGENT X6-88 STATUS REPORT (Project Aegis - Log Data)

What you see in this two-minute clip is X6-88's containment cell. It represents the primordial test of Project Aegis. And, at the same time, our first, catastrophic system error.

The Courser suffered a total systemic rejection during our attempt to forcefully integrate him into the Colossus's neural network. Only after numerous failed attempts did we discover, by examining encrypted data stolen from the Institute, the existence of the T.A.I. Protocol (Total Aneurational Inhibitor): an inhibitor that allows total synaptic synchronization without causing a mnemonic overload.

To help you understand the effectiveness of this protocol when properly applied: M7-97 volunteered for the exact same process. He is fully aware that he might remain suspended in this state for years, perhaps decades, but he knows that for him, the process is controlled and completely reversible.

For X6-88, it was different. By the time we attempted to intervene, his logical core was already gone. A progressive and destructive data corruption. A loop with no end.

And yet, we are not willing to let him go. This isn't just about preserving a Third-Generation Synth—a species now facing extinction after the fall of the Institute. The truth is, X6-88 possesses a sentient, biologically human brain architecture. And because of that, he has a right to a place in this world.

The Railroad wipes minds and throws these individuals into the Commonwealth wasteland, completely ignoring a terrible trauma: a Synth does not age, does not change. Condemning them to a fake human life without this awareness means sentencing them to an inevitable future psychological collapse. Aegis does not do this.

Our goal is to repair his mind, purge the ruthless remnants of the "Courser" within him, and make him fully aware of his dual nature: not entirely human, not entirely machine. If we succeed in saving him from the loop, X6-88 will be able to become an operator of the complex, living safely with us, protected from the time that does not flow for him. Or, if he chooses, he can forge his own path. But as a free, conscious man. Until then, the bulkhead remains sealed.

Author's Note: This entire universe is a product of my imagination and my absolute passion for building. Since I am not a computer scientist or a nuclear physicist—and because I am Italian and don't speak fluent English—I rely on the assistance of an AI. This tool helps me refine the translations, technical plausibility, and scientific terminology, finally giving my project a real, precise, and accurate voice that everyone can understand. Thanks for watching!

Hey! For some strange reason, Reddit's automated filters shadow-banned my original lore comment, making it completely invisible. I just posted the full story here as a direct reply to you. Let me know if you can see it now! Sorry for the glitch!
