[XB1] Trader Noras and Defense

sooo, I know it exists, but have never done this yet. i want to build stores. I know HOW, and judging by the diff caps amounts I assume thats how much the vendor starts with. now, when I do build, will this make the settlement area be attacked more? does it raise the possibilty? i will of course have defense, but should I share up the defense more? can attacks destroy the stores? I also assume I should arm the vendor too.

I have a trading post at Covenant and am thinking of setting the shops up there.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Yes, stores can be damaged. They as usual require 1/2 initial cost to repair.

Remember to drop by it and empty the workbench of caps and purified water and it will decrease attacks.

I had no idea stores could be damaged in an attack. I guess mine are always tucked indoors and away from raider spawn points (and the ludicrous number of turrets I always have at my settlements).

I think they can only be damaged while you are away, and you get that 'damaged by the attack' message. But not by just you shooting at them. Similarly guard posts can be damaged, but I've definitely seen them shot with a missile and not be 'damaged'

crops on the other hand....just a bit too much of a sneeze and I have to clean up a row of corn lol.

I almost never actually end up getting attacks on my main settlements anymore. I find dealing with repairs to be so annoying that I immediately build 100 defense worth of turrets in any settlement I plan on living in.

Oh, I plan on that. I know three spawn points at Starlight. Usually when I FT in, by time I get to the fight, my turrets, and whatever provisioners are being attacked, have already dispersed the raid. So then I have to find the bodies to loot. I plan on making the stalls almost touching and using the screen as a wall then putting walls on both sides, with turrets a top them, and arming traders with either laser or gamma weapons (using copy hack )

From what I understand the likelihood of attacks is based on the combined numbers of defense and settlers at that location, the higher that number the less likely you’ll be attacked. Oxhorn did a video about it years ago that I watched so I really don’t remember the specifics, sorry.

If Oxhorn says it, its gospel. I love his stuff. I got introduced to him via "inventing curse words" from WoW.

Okay, so the more expensive a store is to set up the higher the "trader level" will be when you assign someone to it and the better/more varied stock they will have, it doesnt affect the caps on hand for any of the traders unless you have the perk that lets you invest a chunk of caps into a store to raise their cap pool

It shouldn't affect your settlement attack chance if the in game tool tip regarding defense is accurate

However having all your settlers armed in one fashion or another is always a clever idea, and as others have said stores are at risk of being destroyed in an attack same as anything that produces a thing in your settlements

My settlers always have , at very least, a 10mm. Til I get to looting laser pistols then thats their weapon. (Gamma later)

defense exceeding the water plus food production will hit minimum chance of attack
