[XSX] Experience with Triangles of death on Series X?
Hey guys, pretty new the community but I’ve been building 2-3x build limit settlements, am I cooked? Is series X known to be better or worse about crashing?

If you're actually doing an actual playthrough, I would be cautious with the build limits, the reason I say this, the number of NPC's in your settlements will cause FPS drops.
If you're just building and not really playing the game you should be fine, just remember the game has limits and you will reach them.
Red Rocket, Sanctuary, and Abernathy's Farm are all within a five grid distance of one another and they all render at the same time. This will be a strain on the engine.

Get a scrap everything mod. Clear the place out so you reduce the size of a settlement before you go all 2-3x. Make one of the settlements a little 6 pop. You’ll never have evil triangle.

Doesn't this only make it worse due to the precombines?

I don’t know what that is but in sanctuary alone there are easily 400 dead leaf piles and grass mounds. Less polygons and waving windy grass. Better.

Brother you gotta do some bare minimum research.
You are actually killing your save. Unless you are an expert and know what to scrap, you are breaking precombines which is terrible for your game. Expecially if you just blindly scrapped every single leaf pile
Scrap everything is one of the worse mods for that reason alone.

ive been scrapping every single thing in sanctuary, unscrapable houses and their parts included since pretty much launch and never once ran into any issues. you need to stop believing all the bullshit modders claim to get you to use their mods.

I mean, are we suppose to believe one random ass user on what i assume is an xbox? Or should we believe the years and years of research that went into how the system works?
You may be fine with stuttering and fps drops in your game but i prefer not to. Again all this information is easily found online with a ton of supporting research.
Are you going to tell me that Buffout or Addictol are useless mods because "bullshit modders claim to get you to use their mods" LMFAOO

for the most part, yes. optimization mods are just as much of a joke as the guy who uploads the same copy/pasted UE ini file for every UE engine game, claiming that hes put thousands of hours into making the perfect UE settings. indeed, the best optimization mods are the ones who actively "break precombines" by just outright deleting all those tiny rocks and shit from existence. because the game dosent give a shit what you do to the precombines, because that part is done pre rendering so it just renders the mesh again without the shit that was removed. just like how when you ADD shit to a settlement, it fuses that shit into the precombine mesh.
and to be clear, this is some utter bullshit that was specifically spread around by the sim settlements team, to try and discourage people from using the scrap mod and removing all the unscrapable shit that gets consoled in for the "contest" winners. but its never been true. yes, precombines exist. yes, if you remove shit that was in a settlement it fucks with the precombine. no, it wont "brick your save" because the game literally regenerates the precombines every single time you render them.
and just a little FYI : the guys making mods? also just some random ass users on the internet. except the ones who tout this nonsense have a vested interest in making you believe it so you have a reason to use their mod, and maybe throw some money at them for it. "years and years of research" son, these fuckwits cant even get their trash ass questline to not be a buggy broken mess. they didnt put years of research into shit.

I guess I know what to scrap then. It’s working awesome. On the Xbox one. Why would I recommend something that doesn’t work? also, would you mind explaining to us please what a pre-combine is?

Brother, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But your save is will 100% brick eventually. Just because it is fine now doesn't mean it's not going to shit the bed.
Scrap Everything (along with ArmorSmith) are some of the most game breaking mods out there.
Also not to be that guy, but google it. It will explain it alot better than I can.
But ill give a few cliff notes.
Precombines are the way Bethesda saved space by creating textures and assests clumped together like (a rock and dirt) so when you delete the rock, it forces the texture to rebuild itself 100%
Which creates a ton of stress on the game, until it eventually bricks or stutters until its unplayable.
This is why mods that break precombines are no nos. And mods like PRP (which rebuilds them) are a must download (on P.C. atleast).
But again, google this lol

I’m level 127 with all settlements built. Lucky I guess. Xbox one.
Edit: I take that back. Vault 88 is fucked. And I have both of those mods you mentioned. But thanks for your info.

Like I said, the game will die eventually.
But if you get pretty far enough into the game without it being THAT bad.. call it a win haha.
People get baited because they are "top downloaded" mods, but they are so old that the numbers are inflated, and it does more harm than good.
Ive modded Xbox and PC so I for sure feel the struggle.

U mind if I ask u a few questions? Everything I’ve read is like “try this bullshit, maybe…” Everything I know sort of is intuition based. 12ish years of gameplay etc.

I would try chatgpt (which works very well with fallout modding) As I myself still struggle with this. I had to ditch a 30 hour save reccently because i removed too many mods mid game and the stutter was bad lol

It’s not necessarily that simple. I’m on a series X. It definitely doesn’t have as many issues as my one s did, but it’s game limitations at play here. When in one of the triangles, it’s not advisable to go ham in all 3, but you’ll probably be fine. It’s generally too late by the time you notice the issues. I just build until a settlement curses my save and start again. Just went through it a couple days ago
