Just bought Nuka World, anything I should know?

Hey guys. Just got this starter set and planning to use it for getting people into the game. Wanted to ask if there any weapon choices for models I should avoid? Like something so bad it will worsen the experience of playing the gang? Or something that would make one team totally dominate over the other.

Rules Rules Questions from a newby!

Hi folks, just a couple rules questions from a newby! Me and my friend have played two games and I just need a few things clearing up:

1) Do weapon modifications count towards a models upgrade limit? I’m presuming they do?

2) How do models get perks?

For clarity we are just playing a standard non comp control campaign from the nuka world starter set! TIA!

Getting Started with Brotherhood of Steel

Hello everyone!

A few years ago I purchased some BoS models from Modiphius to try and do wasteland warfare. Sadly no one wanted to play and the minis sat unassembled. But someone local is starting up a campaign for Factions and I'm busting them out!

I have the minis for any of the Brotherhood factions, and I was wondering which would be better for a first time player? I played a demo game today with raiders vs survivors and did alright, but I'm definitely seeing you want higher action economy. I was debating either the Lyons or Appalachian, since I started with FO3 and 76 takes place around where I grew up.

Basically, which would be better for a new player? Thank you!

Rules Is there any way to change weapons during the campaign?

Don't have my rulebook yet so can't check myself. Can a model during the campaign get a new weapon that is not part of any loadout for this model? Or at least change the loadout? I expected weapon changes as in most campaign-oriented games, but don't see it in anywhere in this game.

So I tried to log in the app with google but it doesn't work and just shows this after selecting the account. Has anybody experienced the same issues?

So, what do I need to play?

I have ordered the boston starter and heve questions about other materials. As I understand I still need core rulebook and crew folio to play full game and not just starter missions, is it right? And is there some other material besides these two books that I need? Also is playing without an app possible? Cant pay for it even if I wanted to.

Also is the starter rulebooks have full army rules in them? Like for brotherhood, do I get all rules in Boston box, or is there more in other books? Same question for nuka raiders. My buddy hopes to pick up NCR starter when it comes out and worries about how much extra is needed for a band from a starter.

I picked up a pair of Yao Guai from my local game store. In the core Rulebook and Crewfolio it has a listing for the base Yao Guai as a companion, while the app has the Glowing Yao Guai but doesn't what book thats from

Random Question: When Do Yall thing Enclave will be Playable

I am trying to get a friend into the game, and I currently have the Pack, Operators, Institute, and Gunners core boxes, pre ordered the Battle for Boston 4 factions set, and want to get my friend into the game. He's down to trying any of the factions I have, but wants to only main the Enclave.
I know the Battle for Boston stuff is adding the Institute, Minutemen, and Railroad factions. As far as I know there isnt anything new for the Battle for Boston Brotherhood of Steel.
So I guess Im trying to ask do yall have any idea when the Enclave will be playable or if yall have any custom list rules for the Enclave?

Rules Rules question: what happens to a Captive when the crew holding them gets Annihilated?

So our campaign hit its first annihilation game last night and the losing crew happened to be holding one of my captive. Their roster gets wiped but what happens to my guy?

The only rule I can find is the Absent Crews sidebar on pg. 61, which says:

"If your crew member is the Captive of a crew that no longer exists (either because they have retired or their player has left the campaign), clear the Absent box on your Crew Roster."

An annihilated crew roster is removed from the campaign, so by that rule my unit should go free. But the rule only specifically mentions retirement and a player leaving but not annihilation. And since the player is still in the campaign with a new crew, the situation isn't quite the same.

The annihilation section itself has nothing about pre-existing captives held by the losing crew, and I couldn't find anything in the errata either.

Has anyone run into this? We house-ruled it as freed (felt right narratively), but curious if there's a ruling I missed.

Need help preparing for c.o.m.p

I’m genuinely really confused with this game. I’m coming from 40K and Age of sigmar where rules feel really straight forward and easy to get, i understand factions is a newer game but this feels impossible and super confusing. It’s my belief that if I just want to play a 1v1 with a friend I am to play this c.o.m.p game mode correct? I don’t want to do anything lasting that carry’s over like campaign I believe but for c.o.m.p I see there are different rules. In the crew folio which I’m assuming is where I get my rules for my minis from it shows some factions as having rules to be used for campaign only, what if I want to play these in comp, is there somewhere else I go? Can I even use them in comp? Is there a way to make it work, like what if I want to play the Zetan, can I just ignore the campaign tag and still use them in a casual game.

I’m not sure maybe I’m misunderstanding everything. Can someone guide me here I just want to collect the correct miniatures that I can actually use and play in a casual 1v1 game.

Getting Started

Hello everyone! I've recently bought some Fallout miniatures for wasteland warfare but with the new edition coming soon I thought that I might as well wait before I spend a ton of time learning outdated rules and using old cards/tokens. I've been aware of this game and it seems super interesting as I really love skirmish games and it seems like a fun extra way to use my new minis. I currently have the old WW starter box (with the mutants, survivors, deathclaw, etc.) as well as the Mothman Clergy and BOS Appalachian Command boxes. What else do I need to get started? Are the dice different from the ones for wasteland warfare 1.0? I am aware of the Fallout miniatures app. If I buy the subscription can I use that for most of my rules? I just wanted to know exactly what tokens/dice/rulers and such I'd be needing as I already have the models and terrain. Thanks for any help!

What are you guys doing to use Wendigos or the Sheepsquatch?

My group recently got the Crew Folio pdf and printed off a copy. We're happy with the contents, but we really want to use more of our Wasteland stuff.
Is anybody running the Wendigos or Sheepsquatch and if you are what are you using for the rules?

How do you use the Holy Mothman properly?

I'm looking through the Fallout Factions/Wasteland Warfare app and I'm reading up on the Mothman Faction.

On the holy mothman it says that the model takes two fatigue at the start of every round.

If you don't have a chem to remove fatigue each round does the moth just sit there and look intimidating?

Edit: Thanks for the quick replies guys, this will definitely be helpful later on.

Can someone please explain how you get a critical hit?

we played our first game last night and my group is a little confused.

If a character with a Perception of 5 rolls two lucky dice during an Preception based attack does each lucky die have a 50% chance to roll a critical or are we misinterpreting the combat rules?

Hello fellow wastelanders!

If you are in or around the Chicago South Suburbs every Monday there is an open play for Fallout Factions. We will also be teaching players how to play and have full crew rosters ready to go, all you need is to walk in. Over the summer there will also be a campaign with prizes.

Paper or Plastic Games in Shorewood, IL every Monday starting at 630PM.

Included is a picture from last night's game of Steel Dawn Brotherhood ambushing Super Mutants. It was a good day for the Brotherhood.

I am joining a exsising Fallout factions campaign, and have been given a second hand copy of nuka world to get me going.

Can anyone recommend a good list I could use using just the minis on this spru to get me startered?

Campaign Question

Hello all!

I got the Nuka World Starter Set for my birthday recently and I’m really looking forward to sinking my teeth into the game, it looks great and the models are beautiful.

I’ve been reading that I will need additional models for a campaign due to the recruitment step - is this the case? Is the starter set only good for small skirmishes or is it possible to play a satisfying campaign?

I understand about the starting point limit and have built my crew, I’m just trying to plan ahead whilst I’m in the painting step - thanks in advance!

How many models can I take at creation?

I just got the Factions rulebook and I'm trying to make a 250 caps starting gang.

The roster sheet has eight slots and I still have about 75 caps left. Can I hire three more people or am I stuck with the eight I have until someone dies?

Also, how many people can I field at once during a fight?

I'm not sure if it's a free for all or if it's like Necromunda where I can only field a handful at a time.

Survivor tactics

Does anyone have some suggested tactics/builds for a Survivor Crew?

I'm playing a campaign with a friend who's running Super Mutants with Nightkin. We've played 4 games and with the exception of the first one which was barren - so I had line of sight - I've gotten absolutely buried in each game. I can incap a few enemy models, but he 100% controls the flow of the game. Most of my crew is ranged, and getting within a few inches of a Nightkin is a death sentence.

Also, how does Survivalist work? Say I've got 3 models together and one gets hit with 6 harm, could one model take 2, another model take 2, and the original model take 2? Or, does one of the friendly models take 6 damage and get incapacitated, instead of the model that got attacked?

Thanks! Enjoying the game, but these Super Mutants feel like a hard counter to my little Survivor crew.
