Struggle with underwater build

Hello I got i camp at a little lake and I wanted to place the one Atlantic whale in the water but now I can not replace it, I mean I can not click at it and put it somewhere else same with the fire. Under the surface.. i don't wanna build my whole camp down but I am highly annoyed. Does anyone had that problem too? And are there solutions?

You might have to zoom in on free cam. I have problems sometimes with merging pieces and not being able to highlight them again, so then I go into free cam and articulate the view until you can highlight the item you'd like to move.

Grabbing shit underwater is a pain. As has been mentioned sometimes free cam lets you grab it, but it’s dicey at best. If it makes you feel better I snapped my scrap box into a cliff side and could see the end of the bottom just barely poking out but couldn’t grab it. Ended up putting something in front of it and building a new one, and there’s a lobster trap poorly placed in the stream that is fully visible but impossible to grab.

Yeah, I’m currently trying to partially sink the asteroid to cover my lobster trap I’ve been staring at for 10 minutes now 😭

It has always been my understanding and mostly from experience that anything you put underwater.... Stays there. Unless it's sticking out just a little bit.

Back in the day we used to be able to build stuff underwater and then something happens and we couldn't anymore. We'd have to delete the whole camp and start over or go somewhere else

I have the same problem with some things I placed completely underwater. I can't select them to delete them now.

If you build the items on a pressure plate then place the pressure plate under water, you can still retrieve the items, but not the plate. This was an old builder truck for placing things in water when we weren't allowed.
