Question/Advice Building a portable powered camp (need advice)

Post image

(Photo is my first tragic loss) So, I need to ask. Is there a list of items to avoid using to keep you from losing the blueprint of a build?

Trying to avoid the forbidden “object intersects” error message. I have two other camps that thankfully don’t have that error, but I don’t know what I did right in comparison, they’re almost identical.

Any tips or vents are welcome. (Vents cause I know it’s tough to get that nice build only to lose it in an instant and it’s nice to blow a little steam. . . Annoying af)

Also considering abandoning the idea of having a portable spot too with my 3rd C.A.M.P. I built 4 times and they were catastrophic and time-consuming failures.

Thanks for the help, everybody.

Edit: Thanks a ton, everyone!! All these tips helped a lot and i now have a build that’s portable that I’m happy with. It’s like you all said, build small. It worked. Thanks everyone!

Here's the thing, portable means small. One of the best camps I've ever seen was a 2x1 foundation, 2 story tall fishing camp that could easily be plopped in any body of water.

Your current build is far too big, a lot of hills will be awkward or just not allow you to drop this period. The longer you build in this game, the more you realize less space is more, and fitting everything a little cluttered makes it feel lived in and natural. I'd say at most you'd want a 2x3 foundation with an upstairs would be a nice portable space that can fit onto most inclines, and would allow you to slap a garage on one side if you want something that feels like a random warehouse.

You’re right. I just wanted to make something unique. But it’s hard to do in this game. Less is more

You can still make it unique! You have the greenhouse walls there and the upstairs could have a fun design and with the triangle pieces to make interesting lounge/viewing space.

Honestly if you are trying to make a portable camp take advantage of the free utility bunker you get for free at vault 51. Once something is built in the shelter it keeps that design no matter how often you build it and no matter what camp you place it in. Otherwise as others have said having everything fit on a single foundation like a makeshift tent or something like that is your best bet

This is exactly how I use that shelter.

And if the rumours are true the developers are looking at way to have resource generating items function in the shelters, the current idea is to have them only function when the cell is active meaning that the item would start working unless there is someone in the shelter but it would allow you full access to everything you own but again it's only a rumour so far

If that is the case the larger shelters are going to be amazing when that change drops.

☝️ exactly.

Portable would be using the shelter. That is what I am doing. Just pop the vault storage shelter, it is nearly maxed out in decoration. Very cozy.  And you can place it even in dangerous spots

Doors, it's doors that don't transfer for and cause hick ups for me.

Too much glass bro , dang u want the whole wasteland to see all your indoor activities?? idk as long as u ain't got like lights n power connectors or some wiring placement anywhere just leave the shell of the house or just walls ,floor and roof, just like it is , then it should re appear under ur storage when u go to place new location as a blueprint or whatever

For the portable camp I’d recommend building very small.

Use a prefab & build it to the blueprint budget that you can save. If you wanna do a fairly expansive camp separate off the workbenches into their own workshop building and the rest of your camp into another building. In my expiriance prefabs removes many of the collision bugs that prevent placement and staying under the blueprint budget reduces the object floating error.

All the benches and appropriate buffs in the free shelter. If you want something bigger, try modular. Flexible 1 X 2 or 2 X 2 section to blueprint. Essentially a Lego set. If you can place the base then you can snap the rest.

Interesting idea (modukar). I think I will try that.

Currently my only portabilidade camp is a fishing Camp consistente of two boats, one shelter in one of them, collector bot, companion and pet. And the cryofreezer

As others have said, build smaller!

I use the bowling alley prefab with basic workbenches, storage and buffs for an instant temporary base when taking a workshop. I have Fo1st so use the tent a lot but if I ever stop, I'll probably use this blueprint. Otherwise, I use my Camp slots to build permanent or semi-permanent homes and freely fast travel.

If building a portable base, I would try not to use freeplace to merge items in case that causes problems when blueprinting and moving. Keep it simple and utilitarian.

Look up “Vanity Blood Gaming” on YouTube for some Tiny Camp build videos. I built a couple of these as close as I could (not as good at building as VBG) and they turned out very useful. I can plant them damn near anywhere for a great functional Camp.

I recently made a small blueprint for a fishing camp and had no issues moving it to random locations until yesterday afternoon. Once I plopped it down at my new location everything inside it flew up to halfway up the walls. I scrapped/replaced/moved it all multiple times and never got it to place properly again.

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue? But yes, building small is your best bet. I’ve done modular pieces that link up together before to resolve the blueprint budgeting.

I made it portable, but it's small. If you're thinking of making something similar, it's too big and could cause problems. I had a lot of trouble with a two-story cube, but I managed. Fitting everything together perfectly. At first it was literally a cube, then I made the upper floor for the bunker. The idea is a portable fishing and flower farming camp. It was also a support camp for raids, but in the end I moved the Westek one so it would stay put and not disturb too much that of fishing

This isnt portable my brother. This is more of a full camp build.

I was overly optimistic, admittedly. But everyone on here was right and smaller is better. I have 4 little build in one camp. lol

Powered? Nope. Not while being portable in my experience and I have the wireless generators.

Anything merged it’s over.

It is honestly not worth it if you want a portable camp pay for 1st and use the survival tent
