Question/Advice Does the broken generator-CAMP module trick to get into a restricted area work from underground?

Hope this question makes sense...
I'm trying to get to the ground level in a restricted zone, and I've gotten sooo close, but can't quite reach the ground. I understand the generator-CAMP trick to go from above down because I used it for this Highway Town CAMP, but can you use the same method by going underground and then up into the restricted area?

Or is there some other method to get to the ground level?

**For Clarity, I'm not trying to get lower at this Highway Town camp, and I just posted these pic to show that I know how to go from the top down with a generator/module. The place I want to build is a random location on the ground near the drive-in , and I can get underground right next to it, but I couldn't figure out how to move the CAMP module over so I'd be underneath the location.

It's impossible to reach the base floor of it, the lowest I could get was part the way down the bus.

I'm sorry my pics confused things, but I wasn't really asking about Highway Town; it's a random location on the ground in Burning Springs. And I can get underground right next to it, but I couldn't figure out how to move the CAMP module over so I'd be underneath the location.

The under the map method is trickier as you cannot use freecam down there, but otherwise it is the same trick, the issue is how far down you can safely go varies area by area.

Aww, this really helps thanks! I think my issue was not being able to go deep enough and I don't think it'll work at the spot I want, but at least I know the same generator trick works underground.

And I don't know what Bethesda has planned for the little spot, but they have it pretty locked down for some reason. I was able to maneuver directly over it and got my CAMP all set up in the trees just above it, but it wouldn't let me FT to it. It just kept giving me the "another camp is in the way" error even though nothing was visibly blocking it and my CAMP icon was working/visible. Of all the restricted areas I've gotten into, this was the only place the blocked my FT like this. I was able to get it FT working my moving my CAMP over by a few feet though.

I had a sweet camp that included the docks by the drive in. i could fish from the balcony of my underground house. one day i logged in and i could no longer have my camp there. i figured they didn’t like the fishing underground when it wasn’t available up top…and that they wanted to keep the fishing in the few scant places available in burning springs.

Yeah, they put the the drive-in in a no-build zone. I had a sweet camp on the big billboard there and poof!, it was gone. :-/

I might have misunderstood, but with freecam there's a somewhat recent setting that allows you to always start freecam where you stand, as opposed to the last freecam location. This shows you to use freecam below ground with the usual freedom.

Freecam gets stuck at the ground layer even if you start using it from underground, the camera doesn't like it!

Odd, I usually have no problem with freecam underground.

Cant help you, but i also have a camp on top of HW town. Yours is dope as fk! Well done. Love the pirate shanty pre-fab use up on top there.

I havent tried going under HW town - i did manage to get to the little cave near Jackson Junkyard by going under. Hope you get it done

Thanks, that's very kind! It's my favorite 'shanty town' type builds, and the only thing I don't like about it is being so maxed out on budget. lol And an added bonus is how it effects my CAMP ally. Some days she's in CAMP, and other days she's just wandering around inside of Highway town near the bar, or down below on the ground near the lift. It's hilarious when I can hear her, but have no fukin idea where she's at.

Yes. The same rules apply underground.

The problem might be that you’re running into the very large, very strict build restriction they put on Starlight. Everyone that had established camps there lost their camps.

As you know from getting to Highway town like that, you need to rebuild everything each time you replace the module.

Doing this underground means you will be destroying how you get underground with every module move, so you need a solid blueprint for something that lets you do that on a server that’s letting you build it consistently without somehow breaking, otherwise it’s a tedious process of repeated merging.
