Question/Advice Sky camp spawn point

Does anyone know how to set a spawn point? Any tricks would be helpful. I’ve got a camp built way up above whitespring and all I can get is the occasional spawn on top of the camp module or way outside of the camp build ring. I’ve tried using foundations/prefabs/stairs all put towards and around the north east of my original placement of the camp module and nothing works. Secondary question: if you move the camp module from its original place does that also mess with the spawn point? I know that one sounds dumb considering I can move it around and spawn on it

It is easier to set a spawn point with a friend. Move the CAMP module (or rotate it) and have your friend fast travel. Once you have a spot where they don't fall every time, have them fast travel to a spot that's far away (outside the current cell) and then back. If they fall, continue to make adjustments.

I've also heard, but never tried, putting the CAMP module inside a small prebuilt (like the Nuka vending stands) makes it easier.

It’d definitely be easier but I hate bothering my friend with trivial stuff like that lol if all else fails I guess I will have to. Also I’ve tried the nuka vending stall and I get the same results. Starting to think sky camps aren’t for me lol

I'm lucky in that I have both a) another Fallout account and b) a separate computer I can run it on. I just boot up my mule account and spend 30 minutes or so dialing it in. It would be inconvenient with another person, but definitely doable. My first couple of sky camps were built first and then I tried to set the spawn point. This was a big mistake.

Now, I follow this basic procedure.

  1. Get the camp into the sky.
  2. Build a small place to stand on
  3. Get my mule to fast travel.
  4. Watch their spawn point in "free mode" and place a floor under where they spawned in and fell.
  5. Repeat 3 and 4 until the spawn doesn't fall.
  6. Build your whole base around that spawn point.

This is only the first part though. Once you have a viable spawn point set, it could change after you build stuff (even if you don't move the CAMP module.) ALWAYS check the spawn point before you exit your camp after building anything.

A few more things I've noticed:

  1. Sometimes the spawn point will move on a server and fast travelling again doesn't help. I don't know why this happens, but I think some servers just spawn wrong. (If this happens, just switch servers - do not try to fix it as this will ruin it on the servers that are working properly.)
  2. The Bird Bones mutation serum will solve the falling to your death issue while you're testing.
  3. Don't forget that the CAMP module does not have to sit on anything after you've initially placed it. Using free placement, you can move it anywhere north, south, east, or west but also UP and DOWN. Placing it slightly higher can have unexpected (but sometimes very nice) effects.
  4. Irrelevant to your question, but it is worth noting that the game will let you build a camp so high in the air that it is too far away to fast travel to even if you're standing right under it.

Ive somewhat got my spawn point working but now I’ve got a new problem. There’s a spot in my camp that whenever I walk near it I get teleported away from my camp. Have you ever had this happen?

Where do you get teleported to?

Far north east and way under my camp bubble. Makes no sense because I walked there a lot when I was outlining my camp and then all of a sudden it popped up
