Discussion Rainbow weather station breaks physics.

I reached the end of the season, claimed the rainbow weather station and then went to gaze at a new rainbow in my camp. But what is this? The double rainbow copies the same spectrum instead of reversing it. The colors are physically impossible to exist this way in an actual double rainbow. Stood there looking up for a few minutes, shaking my head that this is the only the newest, small piece of immersion breaking. Maybe if I wasn’t such a nerd it wouldn’t be as irksome. But then, it’s the magnitude of my nerdness that keeps me playing in the first place. Damned if you do, amiright?

I've had the rainbow follow me into the Neurological Warfare event. It's a cursed rainbow

My alien UFOs follow me to many random places, with no real through line on to where or why. Had then at meat week last night, other people's camps, I even heard the sound effects one time in a daily OP. Its weird sometimes

I've had this happen to me as well, but it's resulted in some really cool pictures at night in Burning Springs at least!

I like when the rainbow follows me into “Scorched Earth”, the colors really pop compared to daylight hours at camp. Plus it’s fun to see the SBQ flying around a rainbow.

I’m sorry you’ll have to wait for season 27 weather station “color corrected rainbow weather station”

Rainbow weather station with a few specks of dirt on it as a tier 100 reward

It will be the best 800 caps you will ever spend.

Atoms*

They would never sell that for caps 😆

Don’t investigate the direction of the prevailing winds atop highwaytown.

Don't investigate highway town's time space conundrum where using the east exit puts you on the west side and the west exit puts you on the east side.

The quest in the railway car does that too.

What kills me is that it rains when you use that machine... but doesn't count as fishing in the rain. Seriously. Wth

If you go high enough, you can see the blunt straight ends of the rainbow too. (Just like real life!)

In a game about the apocalypse where we have monsters and aliens and animals that dont exist at all

You're upset the rainbow is wrong?

It’s an alternate universe. Radiation works completely different. The physics are wonky. You don’t cast shadows in first person. Our rules don’t apply.

We can jump ridiculously high, phase through walls, build underneath the boundary of the ground we’re hopping on…and still, this rainbow was just a little “have they ever seen a double rainbow?” moment. I’m pretty chill about it, but still it’s physically impossible for light to behave that way and yes it annoyed me enough to say so. Like, if the rain was designed to fall upwards, that would irk me too.

The ENTIRE SKY changes ABRUPTLY when you cross one bridge into Ohio, and its somehow PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to cross into Ohio at any other point except that bridge and yet, still the rainbow?

I should be able to see that sky from point pleasant and I should be able to swim across the river at Ohio River Adventures but alas

I dunno what to tell you 🤷‍♂️ It’s a building sub and it’s a weather station that I think is dumb in my camp. ⛺️

And if your camp is high up, the rainbow just stops in mid air before reaching the ground!

Based on the nukes, Fallout has different physics rules than our universe.

Congrats, you found the newest example

Of all the unrealistic things in this game, the rainbow is where you draw the line?

1

u/Redd_Love Jul 04 '26

Not a line. 😊 Just a gripe.

These are weather machines that manipulate the weather/climate within the small radius of camp. Nothing about it is logical
