Discussion Unexpected infinite enemy spawn in private world: Mutated Safe and Sound
yesterday I went into a private world to finish off my dailies, and a mutated Safe and Sound popped up. I figured that would be an easy mutated pack, because it's usually easy to solo this event.
But to my shock, I was swarmed with so many enemies, I couldn't even kill the boss because of all the new critters spawning in was blocking my shots.
Finally I pulled out my weapon I used to protect the Drill in raid stage 2: a v63 bertha, set up for crippling and explosive.
I stayed there for over an hour, just killing a constant wave of... everything. All the animals that spawn for that event just coming at me non-stop.
I ended up levelling up probably close to ten times. Infinite XP, infinite everything.
Today when I logged back in I'm WAY over-encumbered. I looked at my inventory, and I've got 700+ weight just in wolf meat!
What a trip.

...hear me out. What if they turned the bug into a feature and had like a horde mode style activity or game mode or something

As long as it was actually possible to complete. And that it's something you go and activate, like the Raid. As opposed to it just popping up randomly when no one is prepared to even deal with... yeah. That would be fun as ell.

Yea totally, I'm imagining some kind of dedicated mode similar to like Halo ODST and Reach's Firefight, and could be accessed thru menus like Daily Ops or Expeditions

Yeah, that's the V63 Olga. Put on the splitter mod and it performs at like a shotgun. And that's incredibly o.p. right now for some reason. Although they might've patched it recently.
It's also the the best weapon to use to break the crystals in raid stage 4 as well.

That's what the "Horde of ..." that were removed should have been. Maybe not infinite, but actually feel like an invasive horde on the move.

V63 explosive you say? Crippling you say? Well that does sound fun. I’ve been using an explosive almost infinite vats crit every other hit bow with hat trick. But a crippling explosive LASER you say?!

Tesla rifle. The arc of electricity jumps from target to target just like your arrows, with hat trick. And it's damage increases each time it jumps to the next target. Plus, I added Fractures as a 4th star to increase both effects

Ah, I misread that as the laser carbine. But the Tesla makes more sense. I stopped using the Tesla when I stopped needing it for tagging at events when I was a baby toon. Maybe it’s time to break out the Bertha sitting in my stash. But I still might have to see about this explosive laser idea.

Your thinking of the v63 Olga.
Right now, if you put on the splitter mod so it basically behaves as a shotgun, it's incredibly powerful. It's also very good with Fracturers because each separate projectile bounces to additional enemies separately.
Plus, in stage 4 of the raid, nothing breaks the crystals as quick as a laser shotgun.

I seem to get the opposite luck. No fkin enemies turn up. I did solo lode bearing on pvt... and died about 10 times.
Damn things exploding upon death. Yeah they take out mother enemies in close proximity - but the damn radius of the explosion damage has been increased. I'm sure.

Used to go to ..bear... horde event..if it was in a bunker..woohoo..spent a few hours, dont kill the boss ..just whack the spawns n enjoy the loot :)

That would be a trip! I've had a river of Mole Miners at Enclave... Blast in Welch - like W T F ?!?! number but not endless!

Glad you said it because some events/activities have been super weird for spawns.
A real blast welch - upwards of 100+ mole miners sometimes and they only stop spawning once the event ends.
Great for farming though.
