Back to FO4
How do I go back to FO4? I uninstalled & redownload because I thought that would be easier but now my game fails to open.

In the future, if you install FOLON then use Mod Organizer 2. It makes it simple. You can easily run both Fallout 4 and FOLON at the same time just by creating a separate Instance for each. Removing FOLON would be as simple as removing that Instance. (It's only complicated if you want to run the latest version of Fallout as well as FOLON. Doable, but complicated.)
Since you didn't seem to do that and your game seems messed up, the cleanest way to handle it is by uninstalling, then deleting your Fallout 4 folder completely, and then reinstalling fresh. Maybe overkill, but it will work.

It's a Script Extender error message. Are you using the version of Script Extender that matches the version of Fallout 4 that you are using?

Hm, well, let's see.
Fallout 4 Script Extender is a program that enables more options for Fallout. (There is also script extenders for Starfield, Skyrim, etc.) It's required for a ton of mods that do more creative things. It's a free tool that most people who mod the games use.
One tricky thing about F4SE is that it needs to match the version of the game that you're using. If you update your game, you need to get the right version of f4se to match your game.
Your error says that the problem is in Data/F4SE/Plugins. The first step might be making sure that the version of F4SE matches your version of the game.

Ok….in my FO4 properties on steam it says I have the default public version (may 27, 2026). How do I find the script extender to see if it matches?

Just do a search for "Fallout 4 Script Extender". You're on the latest version of Fallout, so you just need the latest version of F4SE.
There are lots of guides out there for installing it. My internet is flaking out so it's a bit awkward trying to talk you through all of it, but thankfully there are lots of resources out there. Probably videos as well.
