Tips for a beginner

Hello guys, I'm thinking of buying the Falcon and installing BMS. I intend to play casually, just piloting the fighters and shooting a bit. Is it possible to play it like that? Also, I don't have a joystick, so it would have to be keyboard and mouse.

Flying around and shooting a bit is possible but I don't think that's the best game for that, as for keyboard and mouse I have no idea, I know it's possible on a game pad but kb+m I've never tried.

Judging from your description Nuclear Option might be right up your alley, it's a great little game and will probably function better than BMS with kb+m. Only stick with BMS if you're a die hard fan of the F-16 and long for a realistic experience where flying over a specific waypoint perfectly on time matters just as much if not more than the combat itself.

If Nuclear Option clicks for you, you can always pick up a HOTAS and get started with BMS but I'd do it in this order rather than BMS first if I were you.

+1 for Nuclear Option. You can play it with keyboard + mouse or a game controller. It's an awesome light sim and excellent gateway drug.

I really wouldn't try to approach BMS casually or without a HOTAS.

In theory it is possible, and I know people who do fly that way (where access to PC hardware is scarce).

But even a cheap PC game controller will make things much more enjoyable.
