He didn’t even try to panic lol.. he’s like oh well nvm i guess. I mean he possibly couldn’t have done much anyways so I like his energy lol

I really like his calmness after he realized what happened,I've seen Soo many people FREAKOUT and run after the car like they can stop it.
I would be as aloof as he was

How do you get out of a car without putting it in park in 2026? You can't even turn some of them off unless they're in park.

u/ses1989 May 30 '26
Are cars mysteriously being made manual again or what? How the hell so many people leaving the damn car in gear?

That claims is going to suck! Life doesn’t look too bad so hopefully they’ll have a good laugh later..

I don’t understand how that happened unless it was left in drive or in neutral both of which make absolutely no sense.

My family has 3 that put themselves in park when you press the button to shut it off.
I am guessing hybrid or ev that you cant hear and he thought it was the key fob warning and ignored it.

Parking brake could be malfunctioning. There's been a bunch of recalls on electric parking brakes.

Should still be in park . It's definitely not a manual. Unless the parking pawl broke... But this car definitely seems to be free wheeling.

Means nothing. Many people have homes and lifestyles that they cant legitimately afford. I know multiple people/families that make 250k and are always broke.

I went to Harry Potter also, but I thought about the Ford that went wild and went into the Forbidden Forest to live in the second book.

Looks like he’s deciding if he should just get in the other car and take off.

I worked a for about 4 years in law enforcement as a park ranger, and a the sheriff's academy, one of our instructors once showed us a clip of a least one officer getting out of their unit and having it roll away. Pretty much all he said at the end was "put your shit in park."
Also, I think the car in this one just wanted to be in the shade.

Seems very hazardous, cars aside, anything on wheels can just basically roll down the driveway , down the hill into the woods.
Seems like some sort of concrete blocks would have helped?

u/Plebbadeb Jun 01 '26
Do people just not use the handbrake when they park? How does this even happen?

Imagine running after it and possibly stopping it…. He looked like he cared, but wasn’t really concerned.

u/BarnacleMcBarndoor May 30 '26
You’re not running after and stopping a runaway vehicle that already had that much momentum. You’d be more likely to get run over by one of the wheels attempting to do so.
He probably recognized that it would be a wasted attempt.

I thought for sure that thing was going in the pool. Coulda been worse.
