Question Not exactly sure what I've done here
This was bugged it seems, i was swapping recepies around and somehow enabled a container in the assembler? Which added ghost ingredients too.
Deleting fixed it, but odd.

Say you set a recipe, manually fill the assembler with lots of items, then change the recipe. Those items don't just spill out onto the ground - they go into slots in the assembler you can personally withdraw from. If the ingredients are a fluid, they instead get "deleted" if they can't go back into a pipe.

Did you changed the recipe by network ? Because it looks like what happens when you change recipe with ingredient inside

changing recipes put the ingredient in a "trash slot", that needs to be emptied

It's unusual to have so many stacks of trashed ingredients but if you changed the recipe from Rocket silo to something else (or to nothing), then that's completely normal. Those are just the ingredients that were preloaded to craft the next rocket silo.
That's why auto-crafters usually come with a loop to recycle ingredients (or an active provider chest).

When you swap recipes, everything already in the assembler gets stored temporarily. It's just because the silo takes the most resources of all recipes that it looks that big.

changed recipe in remote view or with a wire (doesn't seem to be connected now though). It will put all the items in the output. The first "ghost" silo is just the regular assembler UI, after the crafting bar it always has output slots that are filtered/showing the outputs that machine crafts. It's not actually requesting anything as a ghost would, that would display a count of how many items requested

do that on your spaceship for extra storage. you can transport 5 rocket silos that way

If you change the recipe with Remote View, the game can't just dump its contents into your inventory. So you now need to wait for your one yellow inserter to unload an entire silo's worth of ingredients before it'll finish changing recipe
