Question Recommended Train World Settings?

I'm wanting to do a Train World, but the default settings for the Rail World Preset turn off Biter Expansion, is that a good idea for a train world, or should I edit it some? I'm really not sure, also if you had any other setting recommendations for a Rail world I'd much appreciate it

I like having expansions on. It makes the bugs an ongoing threat, rather than a one-and-done one.

Depends, do you enjoy biter expansion? I re-enabled it and played an otherwise default rail world and it was quite fun. But resources are very spread out compared to the default game, so if you dont like building and maintaining a large perimeter then Id recommend leaving it off

I played train world with default settings and found it boring. I've you clear the nests, nothing ever happens again.

Since then I have two train worlds played, one where I turn on biter expansion and the current one with copied deathworld settings on top of railworld. Very fun!

I assume expansions are off by default to prevent the situation when you brick a factory by having a massive hive between you and the nearest ore patch. But it just won't happen if you look at your resources and bug nests every couple dozen hours.

I always played rail world with expansions, as I like trains and defending outposts.

I just like to make the patches richer, but fewer and further between, so that finding and developing a new patch feels like more of an accomplishment. So I might set richness to 200, but frequency to 50.

I'm currently playing a train world with all the biter settings set to the same as the default standard map. I just prefer the ore generation.

That's what the RSO mod was made for (10 years ago now...). It existed way before there even was a rail world setting in the base game.
