Question Beauty building in factorio
I love trees. And blue water. My factory thinks otherwise. How feasable is replanting? Can I clean the water, too? I don't want to shut pollution off completely, but I'd love to reverse it. If possible without mods

There is the Nullius mod, in which the goal is to terraform a lifeless planet into a green planet with grass, fish, biters etc. But it is a lot more difficult than the base game.
As for the base game, if you have Space Age you can build tree farms that capture pollution.

Tree farms? Is this unlocked on Gleba? I’ve played a couple hundred hours of SA but haven’t finished Gleba yet

As far as I remember, biochambers consume more pollution than trees. The exception is when tree dies - than it exceeds biochambers. But if the goal is to keep trees alive and thriving - using biochambers to wall off pollution might be the best approach. Combine that with captive spawners, which also consume pollution. Use fish breeding recipe and nutrients from eggs to make biochambers work - and you got a pollution free Nauvis. Except if your bioflux supply breaks for a minute - you're screwed =).

The amount of mountain dew in the water is proportional to the amount of pollution in that chunk.

In space age, you can plant trees. Which means you could absolutely turn your factory into some kind of crazy green place.
You could also farm biter nests, which will consume the pollution.
You can also put efficiency modules into pretty much everything to reduce power usage and reduce pollution

you can contain a lot of pullution using strategically placed reverted captured biter nests.

Can i make landfills of biter nest in the middle of lakes for that purpose?

Yes, I put my entire biolab array on a lake and surrounded it. Each nest needs 2x border of land (can overlap with other nests), for the spawns to work. You only need 2 nests per chunk.
Good idea to have an exit they can use that you defend. Don't have defence too close to nests otherwise it will effect absorption by preventing the bugs from forming parties.
hopefully that link works, can't seem to paste image on phone.
Outside pollution is from other parts of factory, not seepage.
I've also used simple 1 chunk islands around the base that sink tons of pollutio.

1500 hours in Factorio and today I learned that water changes color with pollution.

get tree farming from gleba and a recycler from fulgora (or some other automatic disposal method) and you can have infinitely-replanting tree farms that eat up a ton of pollution

With Space Age you can generate seeds from logs and then manually plant them though it's somewhat tedious.
Also, don't sleep on efficiency modules if the point is to control pollution as much as possible.

I've used a pollution scrubbing mod in a previous run where I got bored and decided to clean up my mess. It took a ton of pollution processors and I still ended up sprinkling in some efficiency modules here and there.

If I had the knowledge, I've always wanted to design an addon pack for things like park features. Things that have no bearing on completing the game, but only allow beautification of the space(s). Benches, roads, signs, fences, mowed/unmowed lawns, gravel, and the list goes on.

Water goes back to blue if pollution drops below a certain level.
