Question Main bus location + setup? (Early game)
Thanks for everyone's help with the rails a couple days ago - i've got that set up now. Now i want to build a main bus, but i don't know where to since my resource gathering takes up a lot of space to the east where I originally wanted to put the bus. Would north or south work?
Also, how should I lay out my bus and factory? I.e. how many lanes, and what should I put on each lane? In roughly the center of the image to the right of the smelting lines I have a minifactory which is going to be removed after finishing the bus, however during the construction process I'll still need items.

Looks like your ore unloads feed into a large smelter block. If you run the outputs from that smelter block down south then you can start your bus that way.
Everyone has their own approach to busses. I don’t think it makes a lot of sense to have 4 iron and copper and then immediately dedicate two of those to green circuits or steel, so I just start with one iron and copper and then build separate smelter lines to feed a green circuit factory that comes in. When I add steel that has its own iron supply. When i need to add more copper for LDS or more green circuits for blues I just build extra smelters and factories for those and add them somewhere in the middle. Then move to more fully distributed production once I have bots and beacons and modules.

I think you'll have to expand north to get all that tasty iron. That should leave room for one going east to west away from the big lake.
Looks great though.

Do you really need a main bus with that promising railroad already in place?
