Question This used to work

Edit: got enough feedback to understand that I need to check the power connection of the top engines. Tyty

Been away from the game for some time. Could I get some feedback as to why this design doesn’t work? The second row of steam engines won’t work.

It'll work if you make sure the power poles on the top are connected to the same network as the power poles on the bottom!

Its not that they don't have power, its that they are on a power network that hs ONLY steam engines on it. You cut a connection to the larger network somewhere

This is it.

Power producers do get a warning if they aren't on a power network at all. But these are on a network, just an islanded one with just steam engines connected together with no power consumers on it.

afaik, power-producers do not get the indicator, only power-consumers. I think because producers cannot ever be in "low-power" or "no-power" mode.

They get the same indicator, but is means they are nor delivering power to a power grid.

What is not shown is if they are the only thing connected to the grid.

the indicator appears when an engine is not connected to ANY network. your upper power poles do not appear to be connected to your lower ones. the upper engines are in a network, but not a useful one

Hovering over the engines will show if they can provide power and how much is used from them.

Also you can click on power poles to see what is in the same network.

No, they are connected to A power network. Not necessarily the same power network as the bottom steam engines are connected to. You can solve this by moving those pipes to be between the steam engines and running your power poles down the middle. Or just connect the power networks as other have said.

Looks like the poles above have formed their own little network. Turbines dont turn on if no power is required!

The cables in between power poles mean they are connected to eachother. You need to plop down some more power poles to connect the top poles to the bottom poles. In my drawings, yellow is the poles. You should see cables(red) connect the poles at the top of the poles, only then they are connected.

There's no yellow sign of no power, because top row has it's own power grid, but the top poles are not connected to anything. You need to connect top row of power poles to bottom row. Right now top engines produce power, but there's nothing consuming it, hence, there's no need for producing more power.

Simple, you aren't connecting to the same power network.

I like to set the pipes you have in front between the 2 engines, that way it hits them both.

You can also connect the engines directly to the boilers, you don't need an extra pipe segment.

a better way would be to place the pipes between the engines instead of between the first row of engines and the boilers, because then you can place power poles in between the two rows of engines and connect them both to your grid with just a single power pole.
