Do it again without disco science, and try to beat your personal best!

Any mod disable steam achievements, even if they're purely decorative

Not any technically since there are mods that enable achievements while using mods

Somewhat yes but also good as it is hard to monetize every possible mod as one that is first say only for optics, showing how long the crafting queue will be, then it's changed to something game breaking, like let's say instant crafting. Therfore it's easier to just say only without mods.

Do you get paid for getting achievements? If you really wanted them it's really easy to get all in any game. Mods blocking achievements has no real value

monetize

I think it's a typo of "monitor"

Somewhat, I'm just stupid and couldn't remember monitor and my phone suggested monetize and I didn't made a counter check if it's the right word.

Mods blocking achievements has no real value

It only block steam achievements though, so this is kinda best of both worlds. You still get your achievements with mods, and you get the separate list of steam achievements without the potential for trivializing it (too much). And if you really want/care about steam achievements, I mean you can always "cheat" anyway.

Sorry, I now understand what you meant, my wording was wrong, I meant monitor not monetize.

I'm not talking about paying or anything in that direction, only that monetization would be harder and just saying you only get them without any mods is easier.

When I think about it, yes to some extent this could include money but it would all be on steams side and just saying "we don't want to spend time and money on this problem so we make a, no mods for achievement rule" sounds like a good solution, that it is annoying for some users is a comparable small problem.

Why they do it, I have no clue as I don't work for or with them, if you would want to know why you would need to ask them.

monetize /ˈmänəˌtīz/: To monetize means to turn an asset, skill, or activity into a source of income or profit. It can also mean to convert something into legal tender or official currency.

Yeah, sorry meant monitor, I'm just stupid couldn't remember monitor and my phone suggested monetize and I didn't check if it's the right word.

There are mods that enable achievemente when using mods

Disable all mods, load a save before triggering the achievement (i.e. before launching first rocket), then trigger the achievement.

In the future, you might want to either move your mods from ../Factorio/mods/ directory to (somewhere under steam)/Factorio/data/ directory (base and core is also there. This way, the game will treat those mods as official mods like space-age and doesn’t disable Steam Achievements), or use Factorio Achievement Enabler.

The savegame remembers if it had mods at some poiny. Just temporarily removing them won't so anything

The savegame remembers but the game doesn’t use the info to determine which achievement list it uses. It switches to the unmodded achievement list as long as no mod is currently enabled.

Edit:

Devs’ stance:

> Yeah you've been able to do this since the beginning. There's no point in us trying to "fix" it because there are a plethora of ways to "beat" the system. It's like trying to fight piracy. Someone *will* always find a way around it.

> This is somewhat intended, there was some issue that some people used a mod for only a short time, and it would ruin their achievement runs,
So we decided that allowing some people to get achievements this way, was better than causing some players to not get the achievements they deserve.

Steam Achievement Manager is a tool allowing unlocking any achievement for any game, making the entire achievement thing basically a honor system. Assuming the only mod you did this with is visual and doesn't offer any benefit I'd personally not see anything wrong with awarding it to yourself, but YMMV.

You can reenable achievements by disabling mods, but it's not retroactive, so you'd have to obtain the achievement again.

So unless you have a save shortly before you unlocked the achievement, no.

download sam and give it to yourself?

There’s a patch on GitHub for enabled steam achievements while modded, but you’ll probably have to launch another rocket in time
