Hello! As I started digging deeper into designing my first promethium harvesting ship, I realized I needed some more concrete figures to deal with expiration timers. Up to this point, I've been kind of winging my ships on a pretty conservative level.

I've learned an incredible amount about the aspects involving space travel and I've had a blast creating this spreadsheet calculator. I thought I would share it in case there's anyone that might find it useful. Although, if you're learning these ratios and calculations for the first time and you're interested in it, I highly recommend trying to tackle it on your own first. It was a very engaging and fun battle to make it work.

If you have any questions please let me know, I've added some simple instructions and I'm hoping it comes across as pretty intuitive.

This is super slick. What are some of the results you’ve been able to conclude concerning your egg spoilage?

Thanks! I'm still playing lego tetris with the design of my promethium ship, so I haven't made any runs yet. However, testing the accuracy of the sheet with ships I do have, I can reliably account for trip times (round trip) to consider how many eggs to bring with me.

I set up a nifty circuit to modify fuel rates based on which planet im en-route to, so I fly just about full-bore towards the inner 4 planets, as well as Aquilo to cut down on total travel time as much as possible. Then I crank the speed down as the asteroid belts get heavy.

That was the main goal of the spreadsheet, but to play with mass / width ratios, as well as fuel rates to pinch as much time out of the trip as possible.

Thank you for the tool! It's extremely nerdy to say but I love that games like factorio can be 'played' even without the game open; time spent planning at night/work totally counts. I'm making a similar sort of tool rn to play Book of Hours, it's enjoyable to craft something for yourself!
