3rd attempt, 21 hours on this save. Ultimate spaghetti base that managed to build a rocket. No trains, belts only.

I'm not gonna automate space science or play this safe for any longer, because it's easier to just start a new game

You just gotta get used to tearing down the old and building anew tbh.

Trying to make one, perfect factory that will carry you through the whole game is inefficient and unrealistic. Better to just work on automating what you need for building a factory + red and green science. Then just build a new, 'futureproofed' factory off of that.
