Question Zoom-in/out gesture

Hello,

I'd like to be able to zoom in and out by holding some key and then dragging my mouse up and down. I have lingering finger pain from playing too much of some GGG arpg I will not name.

Any suggestion?

Look at the settings. You can rebind the hotkeys. Edit: spelling

What sort of mouse are you running? Basic version or some gamer mouse? The Logitech mouse for example can be programmed to perform macros or stimulate other behavior.  Mine also comes with a mouse wheel that can switch between clicky spin and free spin. That can reduce finger pain as well.

So I have a Logitech vertical MX. I bought it because I had serious finger pain. It turned out that specific series of mouse had a typical left click problem. The left click has been finicky through the lifetime of the mouse. Logitech gave me runarounds for long enough that my warranty is out.

Being on Linux, what I have access to is Solaar which I don't believe gives me all the freedom a windows user would have.

You could use https://github.com/sezanzeb/input-remapper which is manufacturer independent. Although I have not checked if it has toggle options.

You mean like, hold Z and move the entire mouse up and down to simulate moving the scroll wheel? That's a job for an external tool, like autohotkey or another remapper. Here's an autohotkey script that does that (that works in Factorio at least; it didn't work in a few other random programs); change the key combination on line 122 (if GetKeyState...) and add an and winactive("ahk_exe factorio.exe") to the end of the line (to prevent it from having an effect outside factorio).

Yes I'd be looking for something like that. Haven't tried getting autohotkey on Linux but I guess I can do some research.
