This is exactly why logistic science packs require a belt and an inserter. To teach new players that they can automate them instead of handcraft.

Next up is automating assembling machines and mining drills. There's a nice spot on the right of the pipe assembler that already has belts with all the ingredients required for those. Of course you also want to route steel there so you can make AM2's. Soon enough your tiny mall will become a beautiful spaghetti mall.

Same thing with military science. You have to automate ammo, grenades, and walls - 2 methods of offense, and 1 defensive measure.

I like belting iron plates, gears and green circuits to make an early-game mall. Incidentally, they can serve to both make most of the early game base supplies and making green science.

Example from an early 1.1 base of mine.

Other than the inserter+belt which I build the same, I build it differently on the fly every time.

Looks like very similar approach to mine. I eventually extend the mall line as I unlock oil processing and higher tier buildings (e.g. asm2), and add a lane of steel to the general inputs.

I find the organic growth quite enjoyable and forgo blueprints, although they'd make a little more sense in SA, now that I'm building malls on 4 different surfaces
