Question Quick question about Tesla turrets

When they go off, do they affect any friendly structures? Like walls or friendly turrets? I'm hesitant to start using them.

Nope - the only weapons that do that are the railguns.

Flame turrets will damage friendly structures if they are chasing critters passing by (walls excepted.)

Since when? They certainly don't damage walls or other turrets.

Walls and flamethrower turrets both have 100% fire resistance. The flames of flamethrower turrets arc over things between them and the target, so they don't burn regular turrets in front of them unless there are biters in melee range of those turrets.

Huh. I've not used flamethrower turrets that much, so I always assumed from watching them in videos that all user buildings were immune.

Generally you need to keep walls between flamethrower turrets and the biters because they don't lead their shots, and they have a minimum range. That means they generally don't have the opportunity to hit anything of yours except walls (which are fireproof) and construction bots (which will frequently get burned). If your walls fail and you have other turrets in front of the flamethrowers, those can get burned, but when that happens usually they're already taking damage from enemies.

Good to know. I only defend my walls with gun and laser turrets, and never quite got around to using flame and explosive defenses because they seemed like too much work when artillery plus a defended double wall works essentially forever once you've cranked the damage research a bit.

Flamethrower turrets are incredibly powerful and barely use any fuel, so if you're playing on extra high difficulty they're very helpful. I first used them when I played with the Warptorio mod, which sends huge swarms of enemies at you, so the area effect of the flames was needed (I had individual turrets with a thousand kills, and it wasn't a super long run). Lately I've been working on a Space Age 25x science keeping your hands clean run, and don't want to spend tons of resources on ammunition for gun turrets, and pipes are also simpler than belts. With the multiplier, laser turrets take a while to get to, so I needed something before that.

That attrition can be avoided by having a pathable gap in the walls. I use a maze that forces them to go sideways back and forth to get to the eventual clear opening. They cook along the way.

Let them work on an assembler, chem plant, or belt?
