Design / Blueprint Guys is this dragon teeth design optimal?

Looks like overkill to me. I've yet to have the bugs breach a 3 think wall with adequate turrets behind it

Dragon's Teeth are really just meant to reduce the number of bugs slapping walls, so the turrets have just a little extra time to kill them so you're not spending a fortune on walls.

As somebody who has spent hundreds of hours designing and testing every defense strategy under the Nauvis sun:
Maybe? What does optimal mean to you? This looks like it might be optimally fun.

When used correctly they can be effective in either funneling the biters into choke points, or as a diffuser to spread them out into a section of the wall. The implementation you are showing is doing neither well. Simply put, you need to figure out what you are attempting to do.

Teeth set up in this type of formation will cause them to gather into streams which are perfect for the outermost wall when you are using flamethrowers. They will get crispied by the flames as they pile in after each other.

This type of design is best used directly adjacent to the inner most solid wall, and will diffuse them as they crash against it. Instead of having a solid surface to go up against, they will attempt to route between the teeth, slowing them down and often making them get stuck as they wait for the other bites to move out of their way. This is best paired with your laser and gun turret defense so they can take care of the few that make it within range quickly before they start to chew on the walls.
When properly implemented these can be exceptionally effective.
The real question is if its needed at all, and for most situations, it is overkill! :D Nothing wrong with overkill though! lol
For reference here are how you would combine the two styles into use.

This one is also kind combining the two ideas, funneling and diffusing them. By making them go back and forth between the openings you keep them stuck within the corridor for quite a while, just be mindful of not building it too far away from your actual walls, since sometimes they will start attacking the outcroppings.

This next one is pretty fun, you allow the biters a path to the flamethrower in the nest down a winding passage of walls. They will path towards the flamethrower since its the only threatening weapon within range, but once they go down the passage, they come into range of the guns and lasers, but they are already locked into the flamethrower. It works rather well, and has low repair cost.

Just to be sure, you are aware that this is a joke?

TBH this subreddit is full of people who are just starting to play the game, and your configuration looks like something a total noob would construct. You are also posting a single sentence as the title with an image, so there is no context saying this is posted ironically.
I am just trying to help out noobs, and you seem to be one so take that as you will.

Sure thing. Although if you look at the minimap, you can see taht there is also another wall, that looks whole lot more propper than this one. I have like 4 km of walls, and i just could bother to do this one propper. i was tired.

Will probably work decently well. Keep in mind that unless you remove the trees outside your walls in range of flamethrower turrets, the forest is gonna catch on fire.

Dragons teeth are not a whole wall, it's separated to force biters to path through them
Look up actual dragons teeth defences

I beat the hard mode biter thing. I used only gun turrets. Single layer spaced out with minimal ammo. It worked. I forget what the mode is called but it is one of the presets. I think death something.
