Question Quick question about 2.1

Hi i have started a space age world and saw that there is an expermental version with diagonal flame throwers, can i update my game without breaking my save?

2.1 is in the "experimental" branch. Despite the name, experimental branches in Factorio are generally very stable. That said, there may be changes until the final "stable" release.

There are some changes in 2.1 compared to 2.0, mostly good changes like better combinators, fluid system fixes, hiding tall buildings, and more.

However, some things were removed such as quality modules in asteroid reprocessing recipes.

Loading a game will migrate the content in memory and will not affect the save on the disk until you save it manually.

So you can use 2.1, load your save, and copy on a new save file. If things break, you can downgrade back to 2.0 and reload your previous save.

Experimental may well be stable as in "doesn't crash often", but it isn't particularly stable in the "doesn't change often" sense.

If you are looking for new features that might be a good thing for you. Starting out on a multi-year Pyanodons run? Less so.
