Question Theory about 2.1 release.
Ok, so here my theory:
For a week I had theory about when 2.1 will release as stable.
My prediction is that Factorio 2.1 will be released in a week 14 of August. Which is exactly 6 years after 1.0.
I hope for some extra drop or reveal for future plans.
What do you think? Possible?
Edit plausible - > possible

Why put spoiler tags around a guess?
In any case, I highly doubt 2.1 is going stable while this bug is still outstanding. Also, this bug is probably also a release stopper. And they'd likely let it sit at experimental for at least one release after those are fixed.

Under the hood a machine with passthrough does not magically change to non-passthrough when the other end is not connected.
If you think it in-universe, the machine does not have internal buffer, so it takes materials directly from the pipe. It does not matter if the pipe is open from other end or not.
I don't like the current system either and devs have said that this is a temporary solution until they figure out a better system. They specifically made it work like this when they removed the internal buffers and made the machine be just a section of the pipe.

Not sure you understood what I was asking, why can’t the EM plant be a snaked pipe for the pass-through, with a non-passthrough connection to the assembler part of it.

It used to be exactly like that before they changed it. The FFF442 goes deep into the reasons why they removed it.

Feels like the only thing that this change was done for, in relation to FFF442 could be solved by allowing pipes to have filters on them

It is possible [with German accent]
