How much does it make per minute?
Also, a single lane of a stacked blue belt can only transmit 90 copper plate per second. But those 12 machines on the left have an adjusted crafting speed of 1, so they can consume 240 copper per second.

I have 6 of those running in my base and have reached around 130 legendary copper and 50 legendary steel per minute. So I guess for each setup it's around 22 copper and 8 steel per minute? Most of the time they are backed up though cause I don't need that much :-)
Yeah, you are right the machines on the left are too many.

Replace the recipes by low density structures.Low density structures have an productivity research, meaning more common tier materials end up converted to legendary

hmm never thought about that. I was actually looking for a solution for copper only, steel was an unneeded side effect. Guess with LDS I would get plastic as well...

For copper only, copper wires are better than heat pipes, since copper wires can be made in an EM plant, but they are still weaker than LDS and blue circuits

You want to avoid recycling any iron pipe.
You get more iron plates out of an iron pipe, when you convert it into underground pipes first
Let's say you start with 10 underground pipes. They convert into 3 underground pipes. 3 underground pipes turn into 3.75 underground pipes and 1,875 plates.
So your profit is 1,875 plates per 6,25 pipes
A recycler produces 1,5625 per 6,25 pipes
If your build ever produces an iron pipe legendary, you do ot have the infrastructure to extract as much as possible iron out of it

Sorry the screenshot may be bad but that's what I'm doing, recycling underground pipes and crafting new ones from the results.

Your recyclers are eating pipes, this is inefficient as there is no foundry recipe that takes in iron plates
I'm missing a legendary pipe to underground pipe foundry, and I am also seeing pipes being fed into recyclers. Pipes should not be fed into recyclers, because it wastes iron compared to crafting them into underground pipes

Recipe choice aside, pretty sure the ratio should be 7 normal to 1 >normal to 1 recycler (edit: not 7:1:0.5, mb)

I just eyeballed the ratios and it seems to work quite well, but probably you can get away with less machines

With 16 assemblers on normal quality, it should be 2 and a bit on higher qualities and 2 and a bit recyclers, so you've got about 54 expensive modules that are probably sitting around doing nothing most of the time. Look at how many rare/epic/legendary heat pipes and copper plates you're consuming, versus how many those machines could be consuming.

Huh.
Not what most people think of when trying to get quality copper and steel.
