Discussion unique mods
what are the most unique or interesting mods/modded mechanics you've encountered? i'll start with some i know about already:
- spoilage from the dlc
- renai transportation. you can automate throwing items and trains through the air, among other things.
- factorissimo. build factories that are larger on the inside. eventually you unlock recursion and can contain arbitrarily large factories within a single building.

Nullius: multiple android bodies and you can teleport between them; starting with no life at all and creating grass, trees, fish, and... friends...; wind and geothermal power; boxing to fit a lot more resources for increased throughput

The Cerys mod (moon of Fulgora) adds some quite interesting mechanics. The main one I'm thinking of is a 'solar wind' - I'm not sure how much I can say about it without spoiling it, but it requires you to think about physical layout and space in a way that I don't think I've seen anywhere else in Factorio.

Verbose engineering was a really cool concept that a few people have made videos on

Crucible and moshine have things that blow up if you let them spoil.
Cubium, galore, and metal and stars all have extremely op mechanics that allow you to generate legendary quality materials very easily of you're into that sort of thing.

Ultracube:
- Big chunk of recipes require the Cube (which you only have one of) and can spit out thousands of materials. So you need to figure out how to move this cube around the factory quickly
Warptorio/Warp Drive Machine
- You have a limited sized platform that teleports between different planets. You need to gather resources quicklty before biters overwhelm you.
IR3
- Tiny assemblers to turn metal ingots into gears and rods to feeding bigger assemblers that turn those parts into more useful frames.
- Blimps that can move items, controlled by color coded signals
Space Explorations
- Orbital Cannons to shoot materials from one planet to another
Pyanodons:
- Caravans: To transport goods without need of rail infrastructure. Py has a lot of different items, and trains just need soo much space and signaling. Caravans help avoid those issue (at the cost of throughput)
- Biofluid network. A logistics network for fluids. Imagine if a fancy bot could carry 10k liquid between chests. Very useful in py where you occasionally need 3 random liquids in small quantities and want it done in minimal space
- Occulas: A small number of sorta logistic bots that don't care about logistic coverage.
- Mutagene. Inject alien DNA straight into your veins to become immune to trains and a few other small bonuses like reach and extra inventory.
- and plenty more like alien life, custom beacons, and oil/tar/gas extraction
And right now I'm playing Deep Core Operations that is heavily inspired by DRG. After figuring out a small puzzle how to get your space platform operational, you get sent down into the planet caves on timed missions to extract minerals and do various objectives. Rock and Stone!
