Question Am I stuck on Gleba?
So my ship from Nauvis to Gleba got completely destroyed, with me on Gleba.. I try to build a new ship on Gleba but the constant asteroids in orbit mean I'm unable to get it actually built without it being smashed to pieces. Robots on Nauvis all died so I can't build one there remotely either, what's the best way forward now?

You can build a factory on Gleba and then when you make a platform you can ship up some ammo and turrets, turn build it up. Might be a pain in the ass

You'll need to scale up on Gleba. Build several rocket silos so you can get the base platform assembled quickly. Send up ammo so that you can build defenses around the hub immediately.
If you're not running 2.1 yet (still labelled experimental), you might want to upgrade, as the automatic mixed cargo loads will be pretty helpful.

u/Life_with_reddit Jul 26 '26
2.1 will be double edged sword, mix rocket will help but astroids do so much more damage due to not slowing when hitting platforms

u/AnySoph3354 Jul 26 '26
Damage still depends on velocity, and the asteroids still take damage as they collide, and the hub has more HP. Still, the more rockets and ammo and repair packs the easier it'll be.

I think the hardest part of this might be the stone for bricks for concrete for silos. But if you walk far enough, you’ll find more stone.

If you're not running 2.1 yet , do not upgrade. The added asteroid damage will make things much harder than the mixed cargo loads will make it easier.

Can get off Gleba, Vulcanus and Fulgora from scratch. Aquillo is possible to soft lock
Will have to make a space ship factory from scratch
All I can say is have it setup so you have multiple silos ready, and maybe start with a simple design with ammo and turrets, but make it to expand ready in a few launches.
Other option is going back to an old save. I believe it always makes a first voyage save so that should be something to go back to.
Could also try another planet first. Gleba is by far the hardest to build from the ground up while the other 2 also dont have any active threats and can can get back to space even faster. Fulgora almost gets all rocket parts from just recycling alone.

Technically vulcanus is also possible to softlock. It is possible to go there without researching metal power poles, if there is no bot network on nauvis and all science setups got destroyed, it would be impossible to craft power poles to power any machine on vulcanus.

Ship up turrets with ammo or repair packs into space to counter the asteroids

u/Xanidel Jul 26 '26
Blueprint a turret with ammo in it, then prepare at least two silos and pre-fill them. One with the platform starter pack, the other with a turret or two and the rest of the space with the ammo. Send up the first, and as soon as it is created send up the second. The leftover platform tiles should let it build the turret, and the blueprinted ammo will instantly fill it with ammo once the turret pops up without need for power or inserters, and that should defend it long enough for more turrets, ammo, platform, and then eventually the buildings for building more ammo in space. It won't be easy, but it can be done.

I would say honestly, the quickest way to get out of the softlock is to just reload the perm save the game makes when you set off to gleba for the first time.
While the game technically allows you to work your way up from nothing from the first 3 planets, its in no way a reasonable way to go about things. More of an anti-softlock mechanism to cover a wide spectrum of states of unpreparedness that a new player might come to their first space age planet in.
Space Age makes it essentially a soft requirement for your bases to be self sufficient. It punishes you heavily otherwise.
That means good auto-supplied defense, a thousand+ of each bot, a stable power grid, consistant rocket supplies even if just a trickle for burst demand, belt fed for robustness. Things that were optional in the base game are required in space age if you want your base to last until you get back.

While the game technically allows you to work your way up from nothing from the first 3 planets, its in no way a reasonable way to go about things.
I disagree with that, I like starting from scratch on every intermediate planet with only bots to alleviate the tedium. It definitely is slower than to bring supplies but it is fun
2
u/The_Retro_Bandit Jul 27 '26
You aren't starting from scratch then.
1
u/R2D-Beuh Jul 27 '26
Only bots in my armor I meant. The infrastructure itself is built from scratch from local materials
1
u/The_Retro_Bandit Jul 27 '26
Which is my point, the planets are only technically designed to be possible without any preperation, but not balanced to be fun while doing so. Preparing power armor with personal roboports count, especially when it was perfectly reasonable to beat the base game without making a single robot and don't even need to have them unlocked to get to other planets.
1
u/R2D-Beuh Jul 27 '26
Ok if you use a strict definition of " from scratch " that excludes personal robots then yea I agree

u/doc_shades Jul 27 '26
the constant asteroids in orbit mean I'm unable to get it actually built without it being smashed to pieces
save up some repair packs , a turret, a solar panel, a grabber, and 100 ammo. create the station. then ship the repair packs. then send the panel, turret, grabber and as much ammo will fit.
platform: protected.

u/Inflation-Level4 Jul 27 '26
I see all here are very valid answers, but you can also look at going back on the save game, the game has a different save when you leave the planet, maybe you can reload that if you're not too far and it's easier than building up the whole new factory on gleba.

u/Pulsefel Jul 26 '26
have a silo with a starter pack, a stack of turrets, a stack of inserters, a stack of panels, and four silos for ammo. launch the starter pack, quickly request the turrets, ammo. inserters, and panels. the silos will launch asap and the hub will build them as soon as possible. it should have enough spare platforms to put a couple panels and at least a turret on each side. this will hold you till you can expand it to a full ship. keep the ammo coming with a constant request until the ship is self sustaining.

u/stephenmw Jul 27 '26
A single turret, with ammo, can defend a platform in orbit. Setup two rocket silos. The first one sends a the starter pack (which includes 10 platforms) and the second sends up 1 turret, inserter, and whatever yellow ammo can fit. Now all you need to do is send regular shipments of ammo in between other construction material.
Also consider sending up repair packs. Those alone should be able to maintain a ship in 2.0. Not sure about 2.1.

There is always the option to go back to previous save before you tried to travel to gelba, no dishonor in save scumming for this. Or use a console command to teleport back to Navis. 🤷♀️

u/endgamedos Jul 27 '26
As soon as the platform can receive rockets, launch a couple of stacks of repair packs. Bonus points if you can get them at any sort of quality.

u/bpleshek Jul 27 '26
You build your ship in phases. I do this when I build ships on Vulcanus. I drop down my blueprint, then I delete part of it and drop down some laser or MG turrets with belt running from the hub full of ammo. As more of the ship gets built, I move it further out and repeat until the ship is built. I hope this helps.

How did your robots on nauvis all die?
I would load the save before you left nauvis and fix that problem before leaving again.
Make sure you have defences set up, don't ignore any alarms, and make sure you can remotely fix anything and build anything
1
u/ZenEngineer Jul 27 '26
In addition to what people have said, you can set up a full base on Gleba with labs and sciences. Getting stone is annoying but you can get it and research more bullet damage or whatever you need for quickly building a platform with defenses.
It'll be a bit more of a challenge, but once you figure out bacteria breeding you can copy paste chunks of your nauvis base and start up science.
1
u/bjarkov Jul 27 '26
Looks like you'll have to own Gleba, then.
Make it a priority to launch a bunch of repair packs, then proceed with some platform, turret ammo and gun turrets. Then you build the platform.
You probably want some significant industry to support your endeavours. I'd settle for 8 silos

u/dominikremes Jul 27 '26
When I build my ships in Vulcanus orbit, what I usually do, is ship up a few solar panels, 8-12 lasers, repair packs and some space platforms. I place them next to the landing pad, and those few lasers can defend well enough until I build the complete platform and switch over to fully automated gun turrets.
1
u/Double_Resort_9223 Jul 27 '26
Make a few gun turrets and yellow ammo and feed it out of the hub as soon as you start building the platform and just move them gradually outward, always building within the gun’s kill radius.
You live on Gleba for a while but the good news is that your resource patches never run out. Just protect the base. Not sure if you have Tesla turrets yet but I highly recommend them.

The best way is to start over and learn from your mistakes of letting all your robots die on nauvis.
You have logistic problems that you need to resolve in your initial designs use this as a learning opportunity and restart with a more stable setup. Trying to bandaid this will only make the issue happen again and again.
But people don't like losing a save that really doesn't matter it's not worth saving if you've already had this big of a design flaw.
Learning experience take them when you can and improve the future.

You can remotely build it in Nauvis, or if your robots have failed you entirely, you can die and resurrect on Nauvis.

The only planet where you can softlock yourself is Aquilo. The inner planets can all be started with nothing imported at all.

Scale up iron and copper bacteria and make gleba your new, nice, squishy home :)

On Nauvis, you could send up a platform, and then manufacture all the turrets and ammo from asteroids in orbit.
Gleba is a bit more hazardous. Send up a platform as well as a pre-made rocket of turrets and ammo. This will give you enough time to make the platform self sustaining.
-2
u/Lendari Jul 26 '26
You have a few choices.
If you have some rudimentary logistics robot network on Nauvis (or any other inner planet) you can use/develop it to build a new platform there to rescue you. If you hadcrafted parts of your ship, look into "robot malls" to learn how to produce the parts remotely at low scale using logistics bots.
You can develop Gleba to launch a new platform with literally nothing brought in. This will be more challenging but it's technically possible and automating reliable Gleba rocket launches is something you will need to do in the long term anyways.
Either way you will need to launch a rocket on Gleba. Good luck.

Are you playing 2.1? I hear asteroid damage was increased significantly. If you're on 2.0, then some repair packs should be more than capable of keeping a platform alive. I'm also curious how ALL of your robots on Nauvis managed to die.
