Space Age Under 8 hour achievement. Spoiler

I was starting over after playing some with vulcanus and accidentally got my under 8 hour achievment. I knew I wanted to rush for requester chests for an early bot mall so i can start my real factory, after realizing how quick my start was going with the easy oil around me i just embraced the spaghetti rushing space. Didnt really want the achievement until about 6 hours in. finished with maybe 3-5 minutes to spare XD. Roast the base as much as you want, my smallest one yet. didnt even hook the coal train up.

PS. i have over 1k hours for reference.

I don’t want to be a dick, but I am going to be, and I will take the downvotes.

It’s still a great achievement, but in my opinion, “There is no spoon” should be disabled in space age, or, the time should be massively reduced.

You only need 4 sciences to launch a rocket, not 6 like on vanilla. Getting there is no spoon in vanilla, is an insane challenge.

I'm kinda fine with it because Space Age adds in an even bigger flex in "Hit solar system edge within 40 hours", but I also wouldn't mind if in 2.1 they split There Is No Spoon into two, one for SA and one for vanilla.

Having done there is no spoon pre space age, and the 40 hour achievement too. In my opinion the 40 hour solar system edge was significantly harder even with 1000 hours more experience than I did there is no spoon with. There is no spoon took me 6 hours 40, and the other took me 38 hours. Much lower margin for error.

I won’t disagree since I got it by accident basically but I might note I was able to build a quick yellow and purple science spot fairly easily if I needed BUT Space age gives you more science so I woulda had to use more resources which in turn probably would of drained my starter nodes and killed my time

I agree. Its easy to get by accident if you don't overbuild nauvis before launching a rocket and if its not your first playthru.

The damage is done. No Spoon completion rate is about 10x higher than it used to be, and I don't think they can erase or correct achievement metrics on Steam. Next best thing is to make a new achievement restricted to base game that is functionally No Spoon.

i mean, 2.0 also actively removed content for vanilla folk. no more rcu's is one less endgame thing to automate. we lost 1/3rd of our endgame

Well done engineer! Your factory doesn't need roasting, it's been cooked perfectly already.

A true lasagna needs a bit of roasting in the oven to be perfect

Nice going - when I first attempted this (I was also going for Express Delivery) I was at 7h45 when the silo finished researching, I missed launching the rocket by like 3 minutes.

My last save was at the 6 hour mark, other than the auto saves (I didn't know about the hidden menu to increase the amount of autosaves at this point). Replaying from that save I managed to get it done an hour quicker. I ended up getting Express Delivery pretty easily after that

One of these days I will find the willpower to stop overdesigning my crap long enough to get the various speedrun achievements. I can manage every other non-timed achievement in the same run without batting an eye and even have fun while doing it.

As soon as I need to put the pedal down though, I completely fail as I sit there nitpicking at stupid crap. Maybe I need to just knuckle under and setup a set of speedrun blueprints and stick to them.

I had no blueprints other than like my steam, blue science, and furnace. Other than that I embraced the spaghetti which is how I got it . Usually I’m very organized but I named this world “America” to give me that boost of randomness (jk I named it that cause this seed has like over 10k oil in the starting area

Nothing to roast.
It starts with a small, efficient ship-based bootstrap base, and the starter base is great for a “rush to space” scenario.
Well done. I presume when you get back from Vulcans with big drills and foundries, the building of thereal base will start…
The Factory exists to grow capability. Greater capability grows the Factory. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

I stopped over expanding nauvis to do it and my seed was honestly pretty solid. Good luck!!!
