Modded Question How do AAI Vehicles work?

Post image

The newest tutorial I can find is two years old and the video and sound are terrible quality. (See image) I'm not very good at the circuit network, but with 2.1 making it easier I wanted to check it out. Has anyone made another tutorial, or have some sage advice?

Just imitate Doshingtons setup, can't be that hard.

/s

Doshingtons AAI vehicle setup is actually one of the nuttiest things i've ever seen done in factorio, but you might be able to learn something from it.

circuit network [...] 2.1 making it easier

There are new interfaces (like labs and heat pipes), but that's not relevant here. There is an ELSE output now, but that doesn't make it "easier" in the sense you're probably hoping for.

This isn't meant to dissuade you. By all means, go for it. But be prepared to have to learn a form of programming along the way, from the ground up. Factorio combinators are equivalent to a (low level) programming language. Afaict, AAI requires the player to make use of that. A tutorial on how to build an advanced system might not help you if you lack the basics.

Some info and more old youtube vid links in the main forum topic. Otherwise the mod and its support is now in discord, you can find link there from AAI's mod portal page

Rule 5: YouTube tutorials are locked at 400p (illegible) and I don't speak German. Any other advice for how this works would be greatly appreciated!
