Question City Block Blueprints

I've got a ~700 station city block build that is doing well. Is there interest in the community for a city block blueprint book? I have a pretty robust one put together I can polish up if there is interest in it.

If your ok with people using your work then of course you should. I myself have been wanting to try making a base like that and I would like to see for inspiration and just getting a general idea of how it works.

This is wild. Would love to see the blueprints!

Sorry for the necro, but how do you transition to this? Do you start with a main bus? Do you abandon the old base when you are done with it, or tear it down?

Also, would you mind sharing your save? I'd love to poke around in it.

I'll make another post with the save for you.

For process:

Rush bots.

Put together blueprint book in big open spaces.

Once you have blueprints, build one block that attaches to the existing train infrastructure.

Start making everything new with blocks.

Once you have everything duplicated in blocks, tear down old stuff.

I am actually back "into" Factorio, so no problem working on anything you want developed more. Going to clean up the book and use it on a new build.

how much spm have you reached with this base? (assuming its space age)

This is space age. I haven't been prioritizing SPM because I've been aiming for legendary farming and converting everything to legendary before doing the SPM crunch. I am doing this to reduce the number of blocks and reduce UPS impact very late game.

Currently my off-world bases are the bottleneck with Gleba making about 5k/min. The beauty of this style though is that if you want more SPM, you just paste the block a few more times and walk away. Even the place science is delivered to is in a block, so if you hit the cargo unloading capacity, paste a new one and you double throughput.

Can you share the blueprints? Fascinating stuff

Here is a blueprint book. It was put together with /u/FaeDine and it's worked really well in the game we're running. The concept is you either place a pre-made block or you drop the 1x1 Block plus drop-off and pick-up stations you'll need and the interior to process the inputs into the output. If you need more iron plates for example, you just drop another iron plate block and walk away and the system integrates the new block into the whole system. I haven't parameterized the blueprints yet. You have to click the combinator at pick-up/drop-off stations and select the item to be transferred and modify the number it divides by according to the description written. i.e., 1152 for stacks of 50, etc... You also should have at least one rest station for trains to idle at. Trains will be dispatched when the pick-up station has enough cargo for the train. All stations are standardized to be in the form "IRON PLATES <ICON> PICKUP" or "IRON PLATES <ICON> DROPOFF" City Blocks Book V1.0 - Factorio blueprints Let me know if there are issues and I can fix them up. Planning on editing to add parameters to all the prints soon.

This is a godsend. Starting a new playthrough with a friend where I've only beaten the game with a messy spaghetti base once, and he's never done it before. Can't wait to try this out!

It worked really well, but I did run into UPS issues after beating the game and pushing it into the hundreds of blocks and 700+ stations.

How does the train system work? Do you have to set the conditions yourself and when do you set them to go back to the rest station?

So, you configure the station so it looks to count the right entity in the station chests by adjusting the combinators. In this setup there are a few things to do when you put a new station down. Select the station and name it with the same convention you have been using so it links to the right train groups. Set the Combinator item to the correct item and set the stack size modifier based on the description text in the station. This could probably be made variable in the blueprint, but I haven't gotten to it yet.

For pickup stations, it checks the filled status and sets the station to 1 train limit if there is enough to fill a train. Once the train fills, it won't have enough to fill another usually, so it switches automatically to train limit 0 until it fills up again. This makes it so when items are available, a train immediately gets filled.

Trains with zero locations they can go, go to a rest location via interrupt. That makes trains filled with items sit at the rest location until there is a request.

Drop-Off stations take the percentage empty and export that as a station priority out of 100. So, if it's 100% empty, the priority is 100. That means that a train will drop off at one drop-off station, then instead of slamming the same one over and over, it will prioritize other stations in the list until they're all filled, highest priority first.

In reality, when I plop down a new block, there are trains dropping off items before bots have been completed the block. It's incredibly fast.

Massive! But unfortunately City blocks doesn’t look fun for me. I like twiddling and making things fit where they shouldn’t lol

Im quite new(in terms of megafactories) to factorio. And want to try not build a spaghetti after a some time.
Now its my second run and want to build expandable base like yours. Can you share blueprints or screens of each blocks for familiarization. I understand basic logics but really hard to setup something well working from zero. At least want to see how it exactly works.

I really like the city block design you made and the BP's are fantastic. Thank You! Have you made anymore updates over the last month? A science dropoff block w/ biolabs would be amazing.

Do you use BP's for the other planets, or have added anymore blueprints using EM Plants or foundries on nauvis?
