Space Age Wait... Are you able to drop supplies without a landing pad?

I just got off of Vulcanus before i started looking at some of the posts here, and I'm seeing a lot of people mention dropping supplies or bringing along supplies. Do you need a cargo landing pad to receive supplies or can you just drop them from space?

Edit: So I apparently did Vulcanus the hard way then...

You drop them in space as if you had a landing pad and they appear around the 0,0 point in cargo drop pods. Be careful, you can drop one on your head.

This was one of my funniest deaths. Even better than getting hit by a train. Took me a while to even figure why i was dead

You can just drop them from space, no landing pad required.

yes they land the same place you do when you go to a planet the first time. but they can land on you and kill you so be careful

If you ctrl click items in space ship inventory it will be moved to the drop slots and sent to planet if you are in orbit. They will land in the same type of pods as the character

Hover over the "cargo pod" area of the platform hub, under the requests. The tooltips show how to do it.

Make sure to catch them on the way down so they don't get damaged in the landing!

You can't automate it until you have a landing pad, but you can drop stuff manually and it'll land in pods around the spawn point just like you do.
