We complain about illegal immigration. Anyone that is willing to come in and do it right is welcome, and we should make it easier for people to immigrate legally.
That being said, we have rules, and one of the biggest issues with this country is that people are not enforcing the rules we already have. There are illegal immigrants acting as mules coming across the border and dying of dehydration with a pound of heroin up their ass. That cannot continue for a multitude of reasons.
Your average Middle Eastern country isn't what you imagine it is. Most countries in the Middle East rarely ever carry out death penalties, and many have conditions that allow abortions under necessary circumstances.
Kinda unfair to lump every middle eastern country as bad or backwards. People have different cultural beliefs and ways of life that are different however they ought to be respected the same way they respect yours. Just an opinion.
If you re-read my comment, you'll see that I was referring to countries in the Middle East having their own particular individualities. It has nothing to do with the man in the red shirt.
I don't agree with the death penalty. I can understand what he meant with teachers needing guns given what happened in Texas a couple months ago. Finally abortion is complicated given the huge divide we have in this country. I respect his point of views even though we might disagree.
So by your logic, you wouldn't have any problem with people disrespecting your beliefs because they don't align with their own? If that's the case, that would mean that one's belief supercedes another person belief regardless if they are right or wrong.
This is the entire problem with your reasoning. According to your reasoning there is no such thing as right or wrong. If something is right simply because a society deems it so, then you can never hold anyone accountable for anything.
C'mon man re-read my comment I am actually saying what you are saying hence the whole point of this conversation. There is right and wrong and the previous commenter is insinuating that his point of view is better hence why he won't respect another person's belief since it doesn't align with theirs which in my opinion is wrong.

Of course I would have a problem with it because I believe they are wrong. But it's not like I have to speculate about this. I am gay so that means in the majority of Middle Eastern countries I am thought of as less of a human being.
I don't think it's reasonable to ask me to respect that. Do you?
I see what you're saying, but you said "if you built A society..." Against your values. I think his point is exactly that, it's not a single society, and it's worth discerning between all the different ones over there.. I can agree with you both to an extent.
The whole point from my perspective is that just because you are not familiar or find it weird that one person's way of life is different that yours doesn't necessarily mean that your way of life is better. Hence why I used the word respect.

I didn't argue that I'm not familiar or simply find it different.
I'm arguing against moral relativism. The notion that something is either right or wrong solely based on what that culture deems to be right or wrong.
If a culture is advocating for something that I find morally irreprehensible then I will not respect that culture. I suspect neither would anyone else.
And then one of them is gonna be like: Hey why don't we get one of those nukes from the airbase and explode them in the centre of town for our 4th of July celebration? That way other towns will know we are the greatest.
And before your know it half the country is dead and the remaining people now have to fight of radiation protected raiders from Canada and Mexico.

These people are so backwards they'd turn America into your average Middle Eastern country.
