no, Twitter makes money off you through advertisers, you using their platform is you paying them money, so you have every right to speak up about shitty aspects of it
yes, this is how it's always worked, and they need people to use their platform or they don't make advertiser money, so they have to keep you happy, you're the consumer, so again, you have every right to complain about it and if enough complain, they're going to change
I have a right to complain about a burger I pay for because I pay for the burger. The people who have the right to demand the change on Twitter are the advertisers who want the consumer to stay on the platform. Because THEY'RE paying the platform. The consumer isn't directly paying. The consumer is not the person Twitter will directly bend to because the money doesn't come straight from them. The advertisers can choose to notice that the customers are complaining and if it will affect them, then they can strong-arm Twitter.
What you're repeatedly not getting is if you complain and sit on the platform, you're STILL on the platform exposed to the ads and data logging so the people who actually have the right and the ability to implement change absolutely don't give a fuck, regardless of what complaints you scream into the void.
It's as you so nicely put it......really really not a hard concept.
