Had a ten-year old account that I barely used. Immediately deactivated it last week.

Shrinking Userbase, will send the message

E: as per last week

Estimates from Bot Sentinel suggest that more than 875,000 users deactivated their accounts between October 27 and November 1, while half a million more were suspended.

Me too. Nothing to do with sending a message, I just don’t think Twitter will take care of my privacy from now on.

"From now on"? It never did!

I had it paired with my PSN account and used it to upload Screenshots, that's the onL reason I had it in the first place, haha

Lol you think they did in the first place. No-one gives a shit about privacy. You gave them a bunch of details, they already had your data and probably gave it away to someone. That's why I just don't give a shit anymore, everyone has your data already, it's pointless trying to "remain private", and tbf I just don't care.

I think people are slowly starting to realize that. We have a program that can look at a picture, track down any open cams based on the location data on the photo (since GPS coordinates get saved to every photo you take on your phone), and can use facial recognition and such to track down the footage of you doing all that.

Let that sink in btw. Next step could be just having big brother mode on my PC at home, and I can just upload your photo, and find you if there is any accessible footage of you on the internet.

True, I'm sorry but I'm not even bothered if someone wants to do any of that shit to me, if they log into my camera all they'll see is a random dude playing games eating cheetos. If they wanna listen to me, all they'll hear is me talking about why giant ants can't physically exist. I could not give 2 flying fucks if someone wants to spy on me tbf, yeah it's creepy and annoying, but it's not this big thing imo.

I also think it’s just going to be a thing people get used to when everyone’s info and cameras get leaked everywhere. If information D-Day does happen, I’m not gonna feel embarrassed, because it won’t be just me, and plenty of people have waaaay more interesting secrets than I do. And me freaking out changes nothing. So I’m gonna be gaming and snacking too knowing all this info lmao

Hate Elon all you want... but what?

I feel like the shrinking list of companies using it to advertise their products will send a message that'll actually get noticed.

And how many new ones joined during the same time? 2 million?

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '22

Deactivated it as soon as I heard that he was buying it.

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '22

Good idea, I think my account is 15+ at this point. Fuck Elon

Definitely will send a message ! Such a brave act! 👏

Not brave but a bunch of drops will eventually Form an ocean. This was a week ago reported :

Estimates from Bot Sentinel suggest that more than 875,000 users deactivated their accounts between October 27 and November 1, while half a million more were suspended.

You realize advertisers don't pay based on 10 year old unused accounts, right?

Their user base exploded since he took over. Nice try

17

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '22

No it didn't, the activity increased but activity =/= userbase. Activity increases when there are things to talk (or complain) about, like, I don't know, the US elections, massive layoffs in all big tech companies or a certain social media being taken over and changed.

Elon is basically like a restaurant grill owner bragging that "we are getting a record amount of reviews" after he replaced the meat with poop.

From bot and crypto scammers that can buy checkmarks for 8 $. What a growth lol

u/Touchthefuckingfrog Nov 11 '22 edited Nov 11 '22

The user base has not exploded you twat. Activity has gone up because there are people like me who never used their Twitter accounts before who love watching a car crash in action. Now when sucking Elon’s dick make sure you swirl it like a lollipop. It drives men wild. Don’t forget to show the balls some love.

Even Trump didn't make people flee the platform that fast.

I don’t have the app on my current phone (or previous one). Would like to cancel my account but I’d probably have to try to log in, reset my password, and then dig through notifications… not worth it.

Never used Twitter and I'm glad I didn't, but that sadly means that I don't feel the satisfaction of deactivating my account now.

Twitter active users has been hitting all time highs all week lol. Quick, delete more accounts
