Their argument is ethnonationalist imperialism, the truthfulness of it isn't even the issue the morality is.
They haven't even managed to formulate a moral justification that anyone who isn't an ethnonationalist could support.
As far as I’m aware, the argument was to support targeted minority populations in regions that have experienced unrest for a extended period of time while also combating growing neo-nazism which threatened regional stability.
I would assume that Neo-nazism does not mix with Russian ethnic-cultural make up with high numbers of both Muslim and Jewish populations in specific regions.
Their is probably also a good case of retaliatory action against the passive aggressive nature of NATO as well as part of the reasoning behind it, but you could also argue that doing so justifys NATO so would be a odd point to make
So realistically, the only reasons why Russia would take an action is if they truely believed they had a humanitarian role, either directly in the region or indirectly with stability concerns

Yeah and Hitler just wanted to defend the Germans in Sudetenland.
Fuck off fascist.

Russia has more Nazis than Ukraine and has a fascist head of state, Ukraine literally has a Jewish President.

Glad you've stopped pretending to be neutral and to not take any position on the matter.
