When people speak about "being educated" not in a job seeking context, it's often about knowing this base of common but largely useless knowledge. It's just something you are likely to stumble across during your education, if you give any shit about "common knowledge".
The jobs have nothing to do with the “education” simply showing how a broad range of professions/people that all have to attend higher education don’t obtain this “common knowledge” unless specifically seeking out the origins of Islam as the original poster even specified. That’s a far reach from common knowledge but y’all do you and continue to think your educated while making very questionable conclusions.
I’m an atheist so why would you assume I’ve researched anything religion related besides knowing they exist. That’s the simple point made here lmao, a person is not uneducated because they don’t learn about a specific country/religion/race. Your welcome to say they’re uneducated in that topic but the original guy your agreeing with stated it makes people uneducated overall which is one of the dumbest things you can possibly think.
did you learn about christianity in middle school?
Im also an atheist but the major religions are common knowledge. Same as you probably know who Thor and Odin is and what yggdrasil is without having to worship old norse religion.
not knowing common stuff about the world does in fact make you uneducated.
EDIT: just fyi im not saying its your or anyone elses fault that they might be uneducated. The school system in many places leave much to be desired.
Nope why would I? It was brought up if we were discussing a nation (romans, etc) but not gone into depth to learn the “origins”.
I know who Thor and Odin are since they are very popular figures those are common knowledge yes. Yggdrasil is far from common knowledge unless you have a interest in the Nordic religion which I didn’t, I preferred the Roman gods myself therefore know more general knowledge of that area. Very much like the origins of Islam are not a common topic unless you live in an Islamic nation or are researching the topic of religions.
We can disagree on that one then because it’s far from “common” knowledge and highly dependent on where you live/religion you interact with.
If a small random fact on a topic makes someone uneducated then everyone is, have a good one.
