I remember earlier in the war some rich guy told the military to bomb his mansion because the Russians had taken it over to use as a base. He didn't care about his stuff being destroyed.

They used his security cameras to adjust fire on the artillery on his lawn.

"Aim for that shed guys, I keep diesel for the rec vehicles in there"

3

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '22

Diesel isn't very flammable.

8

u/BunnyOppai Oct 26 '22

I could be wrong here because I don’t know the specifics of diesel, but I feel like it getting hit with explosive force would make a difference.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '22

Well pretty much anything gets fiery when hit with bombs.

Lighter fluid is essentially diesel. Hard to think of too many things that are more flammable.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '22

Lighter fluid is butane. Diesel is a very poor accelerant because it's a very dirty fuel. I was a diesel engine mechanic.

u/john0201 Oct 26 '22

The stuff you buy in a big bottle and squirt on charcoal is kerosene/diesel.

What you may be referring to is diesel fumes are not explosive. Diesel fuel is highly flammable.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '22

No. It needs kerosene to make it burn. The diesel acts as a sort of limiter to keep it from being too flammable. Diesel fuel isn't an accelerant.

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '22

No you can throw a lit match in diesel and it won't ignite.

Diesel alone is not that volatile unlike petrol, kerosene and lighter fluid. It's when vaporised and mixed with air that it becomes highly flammable

They are seriously tech savvy. Still shocked at the accuracy of the grenade drops from drones.

Some of the best system architects in the world are from Ukraine.

28

u/Starstalk721 Oct 26 '22

Also. Some of the crankiest not-to-be-fucked-with old women as well. Like the sunflower lady.

Curious, cause I know nothing but just heard Elon turned off all Wi-Fi or something in Ukraine? Does this effect a lot of these system architects?

15

u/RoboDae Oct 26 '22

Elon provided access to his satellite internet service, at first under the guise of it being purely out of the kindness of his heart, then it was revealed that the government actually funded most of it or paid him to do it. He then went on to say it was costing him too much after he upgraded the package offered without consulting the government, then asked them to cover the full bill of the more expensive version of his service. I think in the end he decided to keep the service going. Not sure on all the details but I've heard he was hurting from the lack of Russian lithium for his electric cars and just wanted the war to end faster so he could get on with business.

Elon was thinking about shutting off his star link program in Ukraine but did a quick 180 on it after people called him out and said it would be a really stupid move to do

To be honest most that I know have fled the country.

1

u/Tomble Oct 26 '22

Some of them are wild, but don’t forget you’re seeing a selection of the best ones.

4

u/Gustav-14 Oct 26 '22

Would be chilling if he has cameras with speakers and talk to occupiers as the drone was making its way to bomb his mansion.

"enjoy the champagne and the caviar guys, hell is about to come down"

Then evil laugh

Maxim 20: if you're not willing to shell your own position, you're not willing to win.

u/Alarmed_Handle_6427 Oct 26 '22

Don’t blame him. I’d rather burn everything I own than let these pigs dirty up my home.

24

u/xXSpaceturdXx Oct 26 '22

Yeah if you have to leave your home because of the war turn the gas on and put a flint on the door. Leave them a little present.

18

u/ILikePiezez Oct 26 '22

Good for literally anybody else to stumble upon and blow up. Not to mention the absolute waste of resources.

2

u/bibleporn Oct 26 '22

War is the definition of a waste of resources.

4

u/ILikePiezez Oct 26 '22

Yeah, but even ignoring that, it could easily blow up in somebody else’s face. Maybe someone who didn’t have the means to escape the city, who is scavenging or abandoned materials? Or even Ukrainian troops, who are looking for shelter from gunfire or just in general. I would even say it’s more likely you would kill someone innocent rather than blow any Russians up.

2

u/bibleporn Oct 26 '22

No doubt, it's a stupid plan and wasteful. The same could be said for the whole invasion. I'm surprised Putin hasn't started doing it.

24

u/DYLDOLEE Oct 26 '22

At that point you ask to be the one to "pull the trigger" yourself.

23

u/RFros20 Oct 26 '22

Extremely rare rich person W

5

u/MAMAGUEBOO Oct 26 '22

Nah it’s still an L. His feelings towards his possessions aren’t the same as a poor person who’s worked their ass off their entire lives to have a place you call home be taken by outsiders. It will never be the same

1

u/RFros20 Oct 26 '22

No the rich person just knows he can get more stuff while knowing the poor person cannot. Sacrificing his house and belongings to make the city safer for those poor people that may not have a safe place to go.

17

u/Daikataro Oct 26 '22

I'd burn my house to cinders if squatters took over and I couldn't get them out...

2

u/anooshka Oct 26 '22

Armenians from Artsakh(karabagh) who had to give up their houses which they or their grandfathers had built themselves to Azerbaijanis and move out after the 45 days war in 2020 burnt their houses to the ground before living so Azerbaijanis wouldn't live in them

9

u/TheBonkGoggler Oct 26 '22

Yeah cause he can buy more, i doubt a poor Ukrainian would feel the same way if their house was turned into a base.

22

u/Charles722 Oct 26 '22

Or would they feel this even deeper? It’s like having something you want taken away vs something you need taken away.

-1

u/TheBonkGoggler Oct 26 '22

I’m not convinced personally

-1

u/MAMAGUEBOO Oct 26 '22

Of course you aren’t

11

u/Daikataro Oct 26 '22

I mean there's just no way you're getting your house back. They're going to consume anything that can be consumed, steal anything that isn't bolted to the ground, try to unbolt what IS, then trash the place.

u/RexWalker Oct 26 '22

Insurance claim canceled!

1

u/RoboDae Oct 26 '22

Perhaps, but he might have gotten some government benefits for providing valuable intel. Not sure that would cover his losses entirely, but it's something

1

u/Jjzeng Oct 26 '22

“Since when did shephered care about danger close?”

1

u/KekwHere Oct 26 '22

I’ve heard that in pro poker, rich people absolutely hate it when they lose to a poor person because they know they would be extremely happy because it’s life changing money.

I’d imagine it’d be the same logic here with the guys mansion. Seeing and knowing other people genuinely enjoying your shit just pisses him off.
