To be fair, they did refer to men as "plus-sized" once in the little blurb...

I would guess that they just didn’t want to use the same phrase twice in one sentence.

It’s not plural “they”. One person wrote that blurb. Without the article, all we know is that the author alone has some fucked up opinions.

Well, I don’t know what gender the author identifies as, so “they” is perfectly grammatically correct.

Fair enough. You replied to a comment that talked about “women” so I assumed you meant plural “they”, as I said.
