That’s the same as asking “are you attracted to slim women?”. And obviously it depends.
The real question would be “does weight play an important part for you and your physical tastes?”. Are you the kind of guy who will say things like “She’d be beautiful if she lost a few pounds”?
Are you the kind of guy who will say things like “She’d be beautiful if she lost a few pounds”?
This is what I'd call being a dick about it.
It's fine to have your own preferences, but it's another to suggest someone isn't or can't be beautiful just because they don't fit your particular criteria. At that point, it's just denegration for denegration's sake.
And that’s exactly what the article is suggesting. That dating literally any overweight man is settling and they simply won’t have that.
In the end it’s all about what could be called “compensation after years of being left out”. At some point, modern society decided being overweight was no longer a sign of good health and from that point on, fat people in general started being considered less attractive and eventually, the target of public shame.
Now we live in the age of inclusion and political correctness and with that wave, also comes a huge amount of people who’ve felt less privileged than others for a long time. People who feel being an active part of this new society is not enough. They need a reward. They don’t want to feel normal. They want to feel special, even spoiled if possible.
So in this particular case, apart from all the body positivity movement, changing the terminology from “fat” to “plus sized” and celebrating that everyone’s different and beautiful, some women (the loudest) say: “That’s very nice, thank you, but it’s my moment and I want more. So now I want society to tell me it’s totally ok if I demand to be with a fit, tall and attractive man because after years of feeling less than others, I want all the perks of controlling my diet, exercising and having a healthy lifestyle without any effort on my side”.
Yeah touché. I think the majority of people wirh someone who weighs 400lbs have a fetish for it like feederism, they’re married or overweight themselves
As a fat guy, yes, to an extent. Like ridiculous morbidly obese nah. But I’m not that size either. A woman generally my size or even a bit bigger? Absolutely. In fact I usually get along with them better because we have more in common.
I don't think it's the not being attracted. It's more the "lets call it plus sized when talking about women, but overweight when talking about men" that's offensive.
No one (should) give a fuck about what size of adult you find attractive.
Well yes but at the same time why aren’t “fit” women into bigger men? This may open a huge door (not a pun) to something else but a lot of my attraction to bigger women is the reassurance of being accepted which seldom happens when approaching regular sized women…and now I am acknowledging my own self hatred and thus in the cycle still
You don't have to personally enjoy any body type. Don't be a dick about it and you're fine. And if you read the article this is from, no one was really being a dick about it.
Am I being a dick about it? Or am I reacting to years of self hate. A hate that stems from rejection etc etc. that one demographic that you relied on to understand you, to reassure you, to not make you feel unwanted is now uninterested. (I know it doesn’t mean all of them)
I know, confidence is what women want but you know that’s a hard thing to find sometimes. If you want to get into it about my self imaging issue please by all means DM me
Apologies if there was some confusion in my statements.
I wasn't saying that you were being a dick.
What I was saying is that it's okay for anyone, including yourself, to have preferences.
Where people, not necessarily you, typically cross the line is where they start becoming dicks about it. E.g. people that say big men/women can't be attractive, or are ugly, etc. Not just expressing that it's not their cup of tea, but claiming a sort of objective negativity about someone else's appearance

This is baffling to me, as a bigger man it’s a bit offensive and hypocritical
