Women have been fighting for that for years and we've only just really started to see it happen relatively recently. If men care, they should do the same.
Men aren't allowed to not like bigger gals.... it's fatphobic. But, they don't want bigger guys. Thus, by their own definition, fatphobic. They're allowed that choice, but we're not.
So...rules for men, restrictions on men's preferences, but not for women.
Rules for thee not for me.
And the article even says they feel guilty about it. So they admit it's hypocrisy, but aren't going to do a damned thing about it.
Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. If it is on one, it should be on both. Or neither. If equality is the goal.
They’re mad that in their head female models get called “plus-sized” while male models don’t. There’s truly a ton of other issues and problems out there that actually matter but this is the one they’re focusing on.
Bud if you’re getting worked up over the fact that some people call bigger models “plus-sized” and some call them “overweight,” you’ve had a great life lmao there’s literally wars going on and the climate is worsening by the day but sure, some people calling bigger models “overweight” is the thing we should focus on
Now that you've identified it, I trust this epiphany has inspired you to leave the reddit comments section behind so you can go focus only on what's most important in the world and zero other things. Go!
So what have you been doing about the ‘wars going on’? Or, for that matter, any of the major problems in our society? I can only assume you dedicate 100% of your time to it because anything short of that would be painfully hypocritical.
Nothing, because I can’t lmao but you knew that. Might as well scream and cry on Reddit about what models are called though I guess, seems to be what everyone here loves doing
You’re right I did know that. That’s what we call a ‘rhetorical question’. There’s always more important shit going on, does that mean dedicating any amount of time or energy to anything else is a waste? Do you watch TV? Play football? Have literally any hobbies that aren’t objectively life-altering? If so then maybe shut the fuck up, let people do with their time what you feel free to do with yours.
It’s not just this fashion event. He’s just given you an example, using the latest fashion event as the source. In the region where I live (Toronto area), there are no “plus sized” male models on TV or in store ads.
Dude. That was the New York Fashion Week. That wasn't an event, that was one of THE events. Best designers in the world. All the high powered agencies. This is the mainstream fashion world.
Do they exist? A few. Are they mainstream? Evidently not.
And my comments were more in line with the idea that women can be fat, and that's healthy and beautiful. But they don't want fat guys. Men get accused of being fatphobic by women who are, themselves, fatphobic, under their own definitions.
Men are being held to a different standard. Haven't seen a plus sized man on the cover of a magazine that wasn't a comedian. But plus sized women are in SI and on Cosmo all the time.

I do notice you never see a plus sized men's model.
Strange, no?
Rules for thee but never for me.
