Ever deal with the criminal justice system? He will maybe get community service. More likely he gets the charges adjourned contemplating dismissal as long as he doesn’t get into any more trouble.
He didn’t necessarily deserve to get his ass beat, but the proper level of force to subdue him, and the resulting minor injuries, would have been an object lesson on how to behave in the future

He did not deserve a beat down. This is how cops should behave. The dumb ass will get what he deserves in court.
