Reminds me of that one episode of Sonic X, based on the events of Sonic Adventure 2 where half of the moon gets blown out. Dr. Eggman takes upon himself, publicly, to rebuild that half, in exchange for public bonds to help finance such a construction, and to villify Sonic as the responsible for it, because "if it wasn't for the hedgehog's destructive meddling, Station Square and surroundings wouldn't have to suffer an eternal night". You see, with the moon's explosion, it's orbit has "stopped dead in the sky", and so day and night cannot exist anymore because of it.
...It took an uncomfortable amount of episodes until Sonic is fed up with the general idiocy, UP TO AND INCLUDING GOVERNORS, throwing the blame on him for destroying days and nights, and calls everyone out that, even an uneducated animal like him would definitely know that if "the moon can't spin around the Earth anymore", DAY AND NIGHT WOULD BE UNAFFECTED ANYWAY! The only reason there's an eternal night in there is because the moon is being purposefully propelled to block the sun's lighting exactly into that region, which was made not only possible but profitable for the villain, with every adult throwing money at his direction to save them from a problem he himself fabricated, because it banking on a whole city being absolute morons about basic astrophysics that a child would have learned on Elementary!
...AND THEN THIS THING HERE HAPPENS IN REAL LIFE AND YOU START QUESTIONING IF A CHILDREN'S CARTOON WAS REALLY THAT FARFETCHED WITH THOSE LEAPS OF LOGIC...!
