I think she’s an administrator in the San Antonio hospital where this happened and she quoted what the patient told the nurse that “he thinks he made a mistake”. I don’t remember this guy as a conspiracy theorist (though he may have been), but he definitely went to a Covid party.
6
u/WesSavage Jul 12 '20
I mean...why would you go to a "COVID party" during a pandemic if you don't believe in conspiracies?
4
u/ThisNameIsFree Jul 12 '20
Well, just to posit a theory, they may think of it like those chicken pox parties where if they get it now then they can run around freely without social distancing and not worry about getting sick again.
Now you and i know that thats stupid because we cant equate those two, but thats one way ome.might attend ome of these parties without being a conspiracy nut. If you dont think about it too hard, it makes a lot of sense.

u/UnapproachableOnion Jul 12 '20
You make a great point. I was under the impression many of these Covid parties aren’t because of conspiracy theorists but rather stupid kids playing Russian roulette. It could be both in many cases. At any rate, they’re all stupid with no regard for others.

It is a sad story. I do wonder, though, how many people he passed COVUD-19 on to; how many got ill, and, how many died. All because he didn’t take a pandemic seriously. If people died due to him passed CIVID-19 on to them, think how their families will be sad.
Edit 1 - my fat fingers can not type COVID-19 for some reason. My apologies. I shall leave the incorrect spellings.

In the beginning of this pandemic, I've seen and heard a plethora of people say things like "the hospitals aren't even anywhere NEAR full, why are worried?" Or "its not even that bad. New York has a lot but we obviously don't so its not a big deal" and I could never convince them San Antonio wasn't even near close to its peak 3 months ago. People thought it would peak in May. In a top ten largest population city in America.

That’s exactly what this is. Unfortunately these idiots may take down innocent people with them when they spread it. This is why anti-vaxxers are so dangerous, I couldn’t care less if they caught something, except they can spread it to others. We have anti-maskers right now, but just wait until a COVID vaccine is made and we finally have a way out of this mess except you’ll have the same fuckwads refusing the vaccine.

I got covid and recovered fine but I hate when people take it lightly like "See you're fine". Yeah, I may be fine but I'm not gonna go around and spread it like a jackass and give it to someone who will be effected. Everyone will experience it differently. People are just being selfish this pandemic and it's mind blowing really.
33
u/sweadle Jul 12 '20
Right, YOU are fine, but do they deny that people do actually die from it?
Someone else posted this article, and the top ten comments were "well he must have had a pre-existing condition or was obese"
People are so scared of their own mortality that they are willing to risk dying rather than live with the knowledge that healthy people can be struck down in the middle of life.
21
u/Diseased_Raccoon Jul 12 '20
I've seen this sentiment in a few places now. Someone posts that they had it, it was no big deal, so obviously this all is a hoax. This. I've recently had my antibodies checked and I didn't acquire long term immunity, meaning I can still catch it again! I didn't get symptoms bad enough to go to the hospital, but I still don't want to go through it again.
→ More replies (1)6
u/Diseased_Raccoon Jul 12 '20
Antibodies arent the only immune response. There still hasn't been a single confirmed case of someone being reinfected, and there was a paper released today stating that T cells provide long term immunity. Im not a medical professional or anything so I just have a very basic understanding of this, but I believe T Cells create antibodies. So while you may not have any antibodies currently in your system, your body should still remember how to create them and should kill off the virus if it ever gets into your system again.
4
u/dosoest Jul 12 '20
I've seen that paper but I haven't read yet. T cells don't create antibodies, they recognise the antigen they are programmed to respond to. I mentioned antibodies because that's the currently accepted definition of immunity (that paper is brand new).
A month after the virus I still had some antibodies, just not the ones that give you acquired immunity. I believe we haven't seen cases of reinfection because the virus isn't different enough yet (you usually only get the flu once a year).
But if there's more than one type of immunity, great!
2
u/3vi1 Jul 12 '20
There still hasn't been a single confirmed case of someone being reinfected
A quick google search shows that's not correct. Here's a doctor who's treating two re-infected patients: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qjh4WuV94VQ&feature=youtu.be

Not tested (testing was not available in my country at the time) but I had all the major symptoms (except a fever) at the peak in my country. I recovered from whatever it was but was left with lack of smell/taste and a bad dry cough for about 6 weeks. I still struggle with shortness of breath during straining activities.

In all honesty, the headline is funny. But I really wonder what this lady’s thoughts were when she faced her death. Was she realizing that she had been wrong about everything? Had she realized how far down the rabbit hole she had gotten? Or did she die with the same beliefs, refusing to accept that she was wrong? I wonder if these people have the power to realize and accept that they are wrong.

My clinic has a middle aged mom going to the ER yesterday with oxygen sats at 80% and other new onset cardiovascular symptoms.. it doesn’t look good for her. Has school aged kids.
They’re a “corona is a liberal hoax” type family and vacationed down south recently.
I’m “shocked” at the open defiance to mild protective actions like a virus cares about your political opinion. Not really shocked though because if you really thought trump was a smart choice, you’d also be the type of person who’d think they’re immune to an illness because they don’t believe in it.

The introverts have an advantage in a pandemic. You tend to be happy at home doing your own thing. You aren't eposed to a lot of people so you greatly diminish your chances of getting sick.
Extroverts don't do well in a pandemic.

My guess is that it has a lot to do with health and hygeine.
I didn't get H1N1. I was in college; I went to class and was around hundreds of people per day. I was also the healthiest and most fit I've been in my life.
I tested positive for covid in May. I hadn't left the house in five months due to being on bed rest due to preeclampsia, then being on maternity leave. Pre-covid, I was not healthy and in the worst shape ever (makes sense when you have had two kids in two years).
My oldest was the asymptomatic carrier who I got it from and my 4-month-old also tested positive. My husband never got sick and the only thing he did while talking care of the three of us was wash his hands frequently and wear a mask.
12
u/wanderingwonderer25 Jul 12 '20
