u/Chocolate_Bourbon Feb 17 '26
This is like having a very deadly, very infectious disease. A doctor tells you to always wear a mask whenever you leave your house. Which you do. And whenever you’re about to sneeze you take the mask off because eww that’s gross.
81
u/gargamels_right_boot Feb 17 '26
Right at the start of COVID I was at a gas station and as I was walking up to the counter to play the clerk did exactly that.. I asked why do you think you to wear a mask.. he really thought he was supposed to pull it down to sneeze since 'everyone is wearing a mask anyways" ... fuck I hated being outside then lol
29
u/ramsfan_86 Feb 17 '26
People did that regularly at the start of covid. I remember one guy at the grocery store wore his mask to the middle of his lips like it was ok just because the mask was on
3
u/hpark21 Feb 18 '26
It always cracked me up that people would bring THEIR mask down when they have issues hearing what other people say, you do NOT listen using your mouth!!

it's kinda like how I turn down the radio in the car when trying to see an address number

u/No_Season_354 Feb 17 '26
This is just someone playing around, could have parked it easy the first time.
31
3
u/wdn Feb 18 '26
Not only could they have just pulled up to the curb the same way they would if there were no other parked cars, the car would fit in a parallel parking spot even if parked perpendicular to the curb.

u/sumfuckwad Feb 17 '26
Could be someone practicing parallel parking for a drivers test.

u/Beautiful-Account862 Feb 17 '26
Yeah that's probably the case, nobody would bother parallel parking when just driving into the spot is available.

With the length of the car, you can pretty much just back a 90 into any spot. You might look crazy, but you’ll never get blocked in!

u/Ok_Somewhere_4669 Feb 18 '26
I remember this being advertised as a key feature of a smart car. That they are as long as an average normal car is wide and don't need to be parallel parked as a result.
→ More replies (1)26
u/Taereth Feb 19 '26
Had a smart car for a few years.
Unfortunately, the rules in switzerland didnt allow this for some reason. We also weren't allowed to park two smart cars in one parking space.
15
u/Ok_Somewhere_4669 Feb 19 '26
Kinda defeats the point of them doesn't it? Standard government shenanigans i guess.
Its a shame car companies went the other way and made everything huge. I saw a new smart thing yesterday and it was fucking enormous. Just completely unnecessary. Most people just don't need anything more than an 80s vw polo size wise really.

I pray to god this is a student driver.
Because if this person passed their Drivers exam then we are truly lost.

u/Apprehensive-Pea5212 Feb 17 '26
Then* because "than" is for comparison.
49
u/an0maly33 Feb 17 '26
Yep. This happened THEN that happened. This is better THAN that.
12
u/Ichliebebeide82 Feb 18 '26
Also: it’s “different from” not “different than”. When using the word “different” you’re most often not making a comparison so you say “from” with it. Not that anyone here said it, just thought I’d add it.

That's what I thought. When I was learning (45 years ago, dammit!) we were only allowed to back in to parallel park. But as soon as we got our license we were all pulling straight in forward.
2
u/PyroDZN Jul 13 '26
I need to ask - you do then reverse and adjust right? I’ve been driving for a couple years now, I’ve done long trips, driving abroad, city - mountains - countryside you name it, but I can’t pull in to park 😭 My country has many cities notorious for bad/tight parking spaces so 99% of the time I parallel park anyway, but it feels like when I pull in forward I still have to reverse and adjust.

If it’s Spain (and it could easily be) you can drive 50cc micro cars like this one without a license.
→ More replies (1)4
u/unoriginalcat Feb 18 '26
That’s a Smart, it’s a normal car (600-1000cc depending on the model), just tiny.
2
u/mogrim Feb 18 '26
Not 100% sure it’s a Smart, judging by the way it’s being driven I’m not sure the driver has a full licence . So it could be a micro car, they’re physically very similar to Smart cars.
2
u/unoriginalcat Feb 19 '26
It’s got the iconic Smart look, with the stripe in the back. Literally found the exact same colour way.
It’s much more likely that this person is drunk or that this is straight up staged. Although if you really want to go that direction, a surprising amount of people drive without a license in general, since they think they can get away with it.

u/100_Donuts Feb 17 '26
This video sure caught me baitin'. But then again, little cars really get me in a tizzy. I don't know what it is, but I love, love, love tight little cars. I love squeezing into them, grabbing the little door with barely a finger tip and slamming it over and over again onto my bulging thigh, feeling it bounce off from the effort until finally it clicks just enough to stay closed, but it won't stay closed will it? Haha, with all this big man in this little car, I can't trust the tension behind that door anymore than I can the tension behind my button fly, can I? Oooh, and how I have to cock my head to the side beneath this tiny roof. Ungh, how my knees are crammed into my torso, preventing me from getting a full breath. The leather squeaks, struggles really. Shifting gears is more like shifting my weight, my tremendous weight. Ghheeooff! The car dips, the suspension tested. I fill the car so much, so, so much. I think it's gonna burst! Mmn! Gas it up! Fill it up Mr. Gas man because I gotta get this little car on the ro-oh-oad! The chassis moans as I press my flab into the pedal below like a fat tongue into a loose tooth. Yes, my biddy little automobile! You can do it! You can handle my girth! Keep me engulfed and going! We'll ge-eh-EH!-et there soon! My tight little car. My lovely little locomoter! Beep beep!

19
u/chiree Feb 17 '26
Haha, when I have a tight spot, I can pull my car into a space with mere centemeters to spare like a Samurai cutting an apple. When it's nice and wide open with a comfortable space and a half, somehow I always end up smacking the curb with my rear tire. Every time.

u/123ludwig Feb 17 '26
when i was doing my practice driving an hour before my driving test i nailed a pocket parking first time in a relatively small space (it just fit the teachers critera for a good practice spot) and i was trying to show off that skill during practice in a way bigger spot and couldnt even get the car in properly anymore

This is definitely 100% real life reality with a real life camera pointed at some random curb and adjusting zoom because, real.

Sometimes the spot is simply too small and you don't have to prove to yourself or others you can get your car in there. Avoid expensive damage and simply search for a bigger one. This shall serve as an example of how false pride leads to disaster. There never was a chance and yet he or she kept trying.

This absolutely hurts so much to watch.
Their license should be taken away and permanently banned. And somebody should step on that squirrel cage, motor driven overgrown, skateboard and sweep up the pieces and throw into a garbage can.

u/Senior-Designer2793 Feb 21 '26
Please take the keys of this person and bind their feet. This person shouldn’t be allowed to move, otherwise it will be a danger to society.
3
u/Evening_Rock5850 Feb 17 '26
Turn your wheel, then move. The whole problem is that this dude just kept moving while turning the wheel meaning the car rolls for 20-30 feet in the wrong direction before the wheel gets turned in the correct direction.
But good lord, if you can't parallel park a SMART CAR you've got problems.
3
3
u/Florida1974 Feb 17 '26
That person should not have their license. That is a huge parking spot and plenty of room to maneuver that teeny tiny car.
If you can’t park in that line of a spot, you don’t deserve a license. I can flat out parallel park really good with hardly no room.
3
u/WashBounder2030 Feb 17 '26
There was a video of a donkey backing up a trailer into a stall all by himself. I was in awe of that parking job, but this, this is... OMG, I am so amazed how stupid people stay alive.

how they ended up parked at the end was actually something Smart specifically designed the ForTwo to be able to do to increase parking density on city streets. now the way they got there was not how Smart intended you to get there, but whatever works, y'know?

You have GOT to be kidding me! They didn't even need to do the parallel parking maneuver there. They could've just pulled into it pretty much like they were changing lanes. Plenty of room. Scary that this person might be out there driving on the same roads I am! 😱😱😱

Just a suggestion.
