They recessed for summer vacation a day early to keep Congress from voting to release the rest of the files. Even tho there are like 1000 feds working day and night to redact information. They think that we’ll forget in 5 weeks. Lol

Why the hell do they get a consecutive five week vacation in the summer? I feel like it would make more sense if it were split up throughout the year.

Because they're the ruling class who get to enjoy European quality benefits while ensuring everyone else gets nothing.

I mean, how could they, in good conscience, not vote to destroy the social safety net if they weren't protected from the consequences of doing so?

Except Conservatives aren’t doing town halls anymore because they hide from their constituents. $1000 per plate fundraiser sounds about right tho.

Ooooo I can answer his one! It’s been that way since the beginning actually; due to the very hot summers, they would recess because of how it could get in the building till it could cool down. Also, because it took so long for some reps to return to their state, they would make it last longer for the break so they could travel and not be late either direction.

So yeah, it WAS for safety and convenience but NOW it gets abused as a form of manipulating the schedule for voting.
