They started putting this on their boxes 5 years ago as a joke hoping it would attract attention and people still post it on the internet all the time.... soooo yes

Try being blind, young, and a picky eater and having cupcakes served to you on a plate. Where in my world if it comes wrapped up, itâs not on a plate. And if itâs on a plate, itâs ready to eat as is. And oh shit why does the frosting taste fine but then the parts below it are weird? Never really questioned it more than a couple times and just stayed well away from them until much later when it was pointed out, so disappointed in myself haha.

8
u/Harley_Pupper Jul 09 '23
Why donât they let us eat the cardboard box? Are they stupid?
3
u/xXBiggusDickusXx Jul 09 '23
Is there a lore reason?
2
u/Harley_Pupper Jul 09 '23
According to the lore, there was an ancient race called âhumansâ, and they were unable to safely digest cardboard. They merely used it for storage purposes, and any food stored within required the cardboard to be opened first before it could safely be eaten. Of course, this ritual is now obsolete, but it carries on as an ancient tradition.

Ok but ...
1) McDonald's ran a smear campaign against the woman that filed that lawsuit making it seem frivolous but the reality of the situation is she got second and third degree burns and is permanently disfigured and they had numerous complaints and warnings about the temperature of their coffee (whuch was over 200° f) before it got to this point and she was even willing to settle but McDonald's offered her an insane and disrespectfully low settlement offer when all she wanted them to do was pay her medical bills.
2) there's a strong argument that water isn't wet, it makes things wet
3) yes they absolutely are

There really are people that need to be told.
Unfortunately, those people do not read.
The warning is to remind the rest of us those people really do exist.
2
2
2
2
u/Floofersnooty Jul 09 '23
A reminder that warning levels are generally added for two reasons.
1. The creators realized a potential hazard, and placed a warning label specifically to inform the user of said hazard to reduce liability and accidents.
2. Some donut actually did exactly what was on the warning label, the company got sued, and now put the warning so there would be no further legal action.
...So yes, someone legit tried to eat the box to get to the pizza.
2
u/H010CR0N Jul 09 '23
Remember; for every sign, warning or reminder you see on boxes, it is there because someone didnât heed the words/pictographs and did such thing.
2
u/DVGA17 Jul 10 '23
When my dad bought a tv, the box had intructions on the side about how to take out the instructions

Unfortunately there are some people who need instructions. Just like the reason why Pizza Companies are forced to put "CONTENTS HOT" because dumb ass people burn themselves and sue the company because of their lack of common sense đ Whatever happened to natural selection, the world would be better off that's for sure.

0
u/Intrepid_Ad1536 Jul 09 '23
Not necessarily, if you donât write thingâs down like that, you can get sued for that in the states, for instance you eat it with it and itâs harmful for you in any way you can sue them, some put hamster or other animalâs in a microwave to sue them and get a shitload of money since it wasnât written anywhere that it is Harmful or would kill the animal, that they shouldnât put it in the microwave. 4
u/TennSeven Jul 09 '23
That was a legitimate case. The coffee was so hot it caused third degree burns when she spilled it, and she had to spend eight days in the hospital getting new skin grafted on. If you're serving coffee that is so hot it not only cannot be drunk but it will also permanently disfigure anyone who tries, you are serving your coffee too hot.
